Committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly
Looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father

He said, "What were you arrested for, kid?" And I said, "Littering." And they all moved away from me on the bench...till I said, "And creating a nuisance." And they all came back, shook my hand.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:09 amI confess these are my favorite lines from Alice's Restaurant--yes, I own the LP and yes, we memorized the lyrics.

Hope you and your tribe are well Moclips. Great to "see" you.

There can be no mention or homage to the Guthrie family on a site for us liberal ex-Mormons without a mention of Blood of The Lamb. Are your garments all spotless? Along with singing about Christ for President and all you fascists, Guthrie seemed to know something about Mormons too.

Are your garments all spotless?
Are they white as the snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?
Is your soul all spotless?
Is it clean as the snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?
I am washed, yes I'm washed
I am washed in the blood
I'm all washed in the blood of the lamb
I'm all clean I'm all spotless
I'm all pure like the snow
I'm all washed in the blood of the lamb
Have you laid down your burdens?
Have you found peace and rest?
Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?
I've laid down all my troubles
I've found peace and rest
I'm all washed in the blood of the lamb
Have you learned to love your neighbors?
Of all colors, creeds and kinds?
Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?
I've learned to love my peoples
Of all colors, creeds, and kinds
I'm all washed in the blood of the lamb
I am washed, yes I'm washed
I am washed in the blood
I'm all washed in the blood of the lamb
I'm all clean I'm all spotless
And I'm pure like the snow
I'm all washed in the blood of the lamb

Great googely-moogely -- talk about a moment of personal music knowledge shame. I had no idea that this was Guthrie's.Binger wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 4:18 pmThere can be no mention or homage to the Guthrie family on a site for us liberal ex-Mormons without a mention of Blood of The Lamb. This hits the ole "I should have known" nerve up there with when I discovered I Will Always Love You was Dolly's.
(Or when I found out the Righteous Brothers were a different type of "Righteous" and "Brothers.")

Yep. I wonder how Woody would have arranged it. Jeff Tweedy is one of my favorite artists. I liked him with Uncle Tupelo and have seen him many times. I saw Billy Bragg at Kinsgsbury Hall way back in the day, but have not seen him since. I could be wrong, but I think he opened for Echo and the Bunnymen there.Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 4:31 pmGreat googely-moogely -- talk about a moment of personal music knowledge shame. Jeff and Billy did a great job with all of the Guthrie archives. It seems that Arlo and Nora were both quite happy with the product and the money.

You too dude! I've always enjoyed your posts over the years. I pop in now and again, but the echoes in this particular paradise make me a little nauseous.Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 3:51 pmI giggle-snorted ridiculously loud.Black Moclips wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 3:09 amIf Trump would have just put all this evidence on his son's laptop, no one would have said a word.
