I just watched Dan McClellan's Tik Tok again. It was very surprising to hear his scholarship on the Bible and homosexuality. Being raised in the Church, it was deeply ingrained that the Bible condemned homosexuality in the harshest terms. Apparently, the Bible doesn't.
Maybe this is the lifeline the Church finally needs in order to prevent the mass exodus of members over the treatment of gays.
Dan shows that the only type of relationship Paul discussed and condemned was:
"A higher-class older man and a lower-class young man or boy, because playing that passive role would have been considered debasing and emasculating and humiliating for an older higher-class man. And so there is a specific type of homosexual relationship being referred to by Paul, being condemned by Paul. And we have no data to indicate that condemnation can be generalized to all male homosexual relationships, much less all homosexual relationships. There's no indication whatsoever Paul is referring to two adult men of the same social standing engaging in a consensual long term, monogamous homosexual relationship.
That's just a conclusion that cannot be drawn from the New Testament."
Lesbian friends of mine have drawn much comfort from one important Bible passage, which strongly supports their life choices:
Leviticus 18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.
Mayan Elephant:
Not only have I denounced the Big Lie, I have denounced the Big lie big lie.
In Luther's translation in German what appears in the English Bibles as "homosexual" or "sodomites" Luther translates as "schaben knaben" "scrape boys" ?
