Here is a theory: Elder Nelson was momentarily transported to the Twilight Zone, where the events he described actually happened. Once on the ground, he was transported back to Earth Prime where the plane landed uneventfully and continued to the Saint George Airport. Elder Nelson was not making up a whopper of a tall tail in order to create a repertoire of bogus faith-promoting stories, instead, he was describing his brush with the Twilight Zone.
