Yet another example of Church leaders failing to protect children

Post by I Have Questions »

I won’t post the details of the abuse from the article, it’s not nice reading. Here’s the salient part…
But, according to the complaint, church leadership — including bishops and counselors — never spoke with her to investigate the abuse “or even ask how she was doing.”

The complaint names the church, the Temple Corporation of the Church of Latter-Day Saints and the Corporation of the President of the Santa Rosa California Stake and unnamed others as defendants.

The suit accuses them of negligence, negligent supervision of a minor, sexual abuse of a minor and negligent hiring and supervision, among other claims.

According to the complaint, the defendants had a duty to protect the minor plaintiff, including having a red flagging system to identify and track sexual predators.

The plaintiff is suing for unlimited damages and is demanding a jury trial.

There are so many examples of this kind of thing now. That phrase “negligent hiring” resonates. The Church still appoints Bishops and others who work with children without the necessary protocols, checks, and safeguards.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

We need a “Mormon Sexual Predator Tracker” billboard on I-15 in Mordor.

The church will wave a check in front of the victim. There will be an attached NDA. That will end it.
