BYU graduate, Lauren Chen, outed as an alleged Russian asset

Post by master_dc »

https://www.yahoo.com/news/she-alleged ... 19662.html

NBC alleges that Tenet Media, owned by Lauren Chen and her husband, is the company at the center of a Russian campaign to infiltrate and use alt right/conservative YouTubers to spread propaganda.

Chen started her studies at USC then transferred to BYU.

Between this and the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, not a good time to be a Mormon influencer.

One more insistence of Mormon ties to the alt right movement.

BYU is definitely the place to be for alt-right and pro-Russia propaganda. As we speak, a former BYU professor is on vacation with a known Russian asset.
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

Back when Midgley taught Poly Sci, one of the doctoral students was placed as a security guard at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC. He let the Nixon Whitehouse burglars into the building and then into the Democratic National HQ. He was able to show his committee at BYU and at Church HQ that he had chosen the Right. May have been one of Nibley's favorite students.

To hypothesise a little. If Lauren Chen is a Russian Asset, and received income as such, and paid tithing on that income, the Church has received illicit funds born from espionage. And none of God’s chosen Apostles were prompted about those tainted funds being used to build God’s kingdom (a hedge fund).
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Is Interpreter a front for channelling Russian funds to Russian BYU assets? Are these movies just a money laundering scheme to wash the Russian funds (sent as “donations”)? I mean, no financial accounts have been forthcoming…
Does Shryver travel with Peterson has cover for meeting Russian contacts in the Middle East and South America?

Was Nelson’s announcement about a temple in Russia a dog whistle to Putin that he can count on the Church’s support?

Moksha, is this sober history or one of your far fetched comedic images?

It doesn't matter when I'm the only one old enough to remember it. However, it is in the history books (since this was before everything was digitized and they still used print). This was one of BYU's claims to fame back then since it occurred before the football glory days. The BYU Poly Sci grad student made good use of duct tape to ensure the doors did not lock.

Moksha, thanks for the bit of clarification. I am fully old enough to have followed the Watergate affair fairly closely but I had zero connection to BYU and was sort of avoiding Mormon subjects in general at that time. I was on a lengthy backpacking trip when the affair came to and end. I and friends arrived back in a town and in a news stand on a street corner saw the headline, President Ford....

We could not help but cheering, slaps on the back, the wicked witch is done and gone. (I wish it was that final)
