Ladies, gentlemen, neither, and both, I’m pleased to announce that, inspired in part by our dear Reverend Kishkumen I started a YouTube channel. I haven’t been so active here that I’ll expect many of you to care much, but I wanted to have it here where he could see it and thank him.
Anyways, I made a video that in part talks about what Mormon prophets had to say about Aliens. I don’t remember who posted it but someone here shared an image of what Joseph Smith and Brigham Young had to say on it, which made it into the video.
I don’t imagine that anything I say would be super new to you if this topic has ever piqued your interest, but who knows, maybe what I have to say about the Greeks or the eastern religions could be educational to you.

I wasn't familiar with all the views on aliens from antiquity nor had I heard about Brigham's "screen" that blocks the view of them. But I was left wondering where this was all going. I believe you mentioned something about a faith journey? How does the church's beliefs about aliens intertwine with that?
Lost Gospel of Thomas 1:8 - And Jesus said, "what about the Pharisees? They did it too! Wherefore, we shall do it even more!"

Well done, Ego! I enjoyed that very much! I especially appreciated your research on Classical views of extraterrestrials. Lucian’s True History really is an amazing text!Ego wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2026 10:52 pmLadies, gentlemen, neither, and both, I’m pleased to announce that, inspired in part by our dear Reverend Kishkumen I started a YouTube channel. Specifically, aliens as taught in the Church has little to do with my losing faith, what I was referencing was the fact that when I wrote the college paper that I based this video on it was the first time that I learned about Daoism. So not as much to do with losing faith and more to do with having introduced me to what I would eventually gravitate towards after that loss of faith. I do intend to go into more detail on my faith journey in future videos.Gadianton wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2026 12:06 amI wasn't familiar with all the views on aliens from antiquity nor had I heard about Brigham's "screen" that blocks the view of them. Ego, in your understanding of doctrine-grounded aliens, are you saying the BY and others believed in sentient aliens that came into being entirely separate from any lineage of the Father, or they believed in other planets inhabited by long-lost humanoids who were children of the Father for whom Jesus died? And we're calling these folks aliens? Or maybe it's unstated?

D&C 76: 24 That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God.Gadianton wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2026 1:40 pmEgo, in your understanding of doctrine-grounded aliens, are you saying the BY and others believed in sentient aliens that came into being entirely separate from any lineage of the Father, or they believed in other planets inhabited by long-lost humanoids who were children of the Father for whom Jesus died? As far as I understand the implications of this verse, any other inhabited world would have been created by the premortal Jesus and peopled by children of the Father. One would assume that if Jesus created the world he’d also die for their sins and I’ve heard friends speculate that it would be a situation similar to the Book of Mormon’s account of Jesus’s alleged appearance to those in the New World who would have been for all intents and purposes living in a different world, separated by a vast ocean as relatively uncrossable as space for their era. But technically aside from this verse seeming to imply that Jesus is creator and that their inhabitants are the children of the Father, there is nothing more said as far as I’m aware. Nothing about how their salvation would come about, etc.

Of course there’s also the possibility that there would be worlds of a different lineage if one were to assume the many gods interpretation, the sort where Elohim is but one link in a vast chain rather than being the only Most High God above all other gods.
But I’d assume that even under such an interpretation, the worlds that do belong to the Father’s lineage would still be incomprehensibly vast, or so the scriptures suggest God’s creations to be.
