anti-christ discussion, from middle p. 3 to end.

Post by Lem »

gemli > Ian Law

No, I do not pray to the Heavenly Father. I worship at the Church of the Presumptuous Assumption, which was made known to me by the Firesign Theater. Our journeys through this life take many different routes, but frankly I think We're All Bozos on this Bus.

gemli: "I think We're All Bozos on this Bus"

Except, of course, that you don't. Not really.

You think that we're all Bozos, and that you've got the universe fundamentally figured out.

----
gemli > DanielPeterson • 17 minutes ago

No, I don't have the universe figured out in the least. We're all trying to figure out a vast universe, with the disadvantage of having gradually evolved on a speck of rock in a low-rent quadrant of the cosmos. Theists have invented a Big Powerful Human avatar in which to put their faith, but I'm depending on scientific study to provide a more realistic answer. Besides, my first clown was not Bozo, but Clarabell, because I watched Howdy Doody as a tot.

Gemli tends to respond to religious claims with bemused exasperation. The state of tizzy is fully occupied with theists who for some reason can't agree on the nature of the Great Nonexistence. Nor is he conflicted over prayer, because mumbling into the Void seems to be at best pointless, if not a little strange.

And for the holidays...

Gemli would be bereft if Dr. Midgley did not provide straw men by the truckload for him to knock down. It will be a sad Christmas without his comments, and we do not want to make the baby Jesus cry.

Didn't Daniel say several times to critics NOT to put his own beliefs in their own mouths, that they didn't KNOW what his thoughts were? All I see is gross and stupid hypocrisy from an "Elder" of the Mormon Church. He shames Mormonism with posts like this. The really, really, honestly, REALLY sad thing is, he actually cannot see it. He is blinded by his own craftiness and "testimony" which I cannot actually believe he has. I don't give a monkey's furball how sincere he ever testifies, it's a lie. I have grave doubts he is ever going to be believable until he comes clean, and the filth of Mormon authority will never allow that because they own him. His God, like theirs, is Mammon. He imagines he is cute. He is just stupid. An intelligent man acting like an immature brat. I am no longer impressed with anything from that dope's keyboard. And I do hope he reads this and takes offense like a child.

I don't respect you like I used to Daniel. You are acting like a complete dork. It isn't cute, it ought to embarrass you. And here all those years you had me fooled that you actually were intelligent. You and that monkeyfuck Lou Midgley are morons. Your name calling Mormon embarrassments. Oh? You don't like being called Mormons because you drink the Kool Aid? O.K., then, you and that monkeyfuck Lou Midgley are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint MORONS. Grow up already you big babies.

The PERFECT response to the argument that science and religion are at odds:
gemli DanielPeterson 3 days ago

There doesn't appear to be a war between science and religion, any more than there's a war between science and magic, or science and asparagus.

One is a discipline that studies the structure and behavior of the physical world through observations and experiment, and the other is a belief in, and obedience to, a superhuman controlling power that can't be demonstrated to exist.

No argument from me, philo. That's the best part of gemli's comments, just ordinary, common sense, combating the silliness.

Absolutely agreed. Gemli is every bit as just powerful as Dr. Jenkins was against Bill Hamblin. Peterson and Midgley have nothing but mocking and innuendo to respond with! Astonishing considering at one point in time Parley P. Pratt and his brother Orson simply MAN-HANDLED their critics. Dan and Lou can't even make sense in their responses of ad hominims! It is quite pathetic. But yes, I LOVE that Gemli carries on and shows the light of truth in the darkness that is Dan and Lou's versions of Mormonism. They really are Ph.d holding Sophomores against Gemli. It's like a 4 year old wanting to box Mike Tyson when he was the World Champion.

Dan and Lou: We can trounce you boy!
Tyson: In the ring fellas.
Dan and Lou: We don't need no stinkin ring to whump your sorry weak butt, you phony champion.
Tyson: Give a formal challenge in the ring fellas and show me the evidence you gonna whup my butt.
Dan and Lou: Between the two of us we can do 2 pushups you WIMP! That's 7 more than you ever did, and using Bayes Theorem we can demonstrate that the odds of you winning are like 1 in 345,325,678,990, and we have a real doctor Russell M. Nelson who will verify the odds, you don't have no educations motor mouth.
Tyson: Why would I care about your odds? The truth is going to be found in the ring. Come on in.
Dan and Lou: It isn't in the ring you freak! It's in the math, of which we secretly know way better than you ever will because in our spare time we have spent years doing it. We have discovered probable statistics that you aren't even a real boxer! You are hiding behind a made up screen name, and we are going to search out your in real life and find out who you really are! We might even come and visit you!
Tyson: That's what I'm talking about, come visit me in the ring.
Dan and Lou: We never claimed we could beat you... so now you are changing the subject. We have a Captain Moroni in our true scripture the Book of Mormon! HE could trounce you you skeptic weasel wannabe!
Tyson: Get him in the ring then....

Awesome, Philo. You should be writing screenplays. My personal favorite, of course:
We have discovered probable statistics that you aren't even a real boxer!

.... We might even come and visit you!
Now that's how you trash talk! :D

I laughed the entire time typing it as I channeled both Dan and Lou through my own personal Joseph Smith approved (and signed! He showed up as a resurrected being the other night in my bedroom all dressed in white robes and told me about a special stone hidden away in a vault out in the country near my home) Seer Stone to help me write it..... the words glowed as I looked in the stone under my covers so it would be extra special dark!

I really ought to do a screen play and call it Dan and Lou's Mopologetic Adventures in Proving Mormonism is True and Jives with Science. :D

 Speaking of 'jiving with science.' Peterson isn't quite picking up on gemli's meaning:
gemli > DanielPeterson • 2 hours ago

I'm sure your judgment is completely objective, so I'm at a loss to explain Mr. Hitchens poor performance.

----
DanielPeterson Mod > gemli • 40 minutes ago

I'm gratified at your recognition that, unlike yours, my judgment on this matter is completely objective.

I think that a fundamental part of Mr. Hitchens's problem was that he was wrong. But his intellectual sloth and carelessness also played a major role.

You're welcome!
Hmm. Not quite. He was clearer with kiwi, though.
gemli > Kiwi57 • a minute ago

I suspect that Christopher Hitchens was smarter, better educated, more experienced in world politics, philosophy, history and religion than both of us and any ten people you could name put together. The fact that he disdained your theology is certainly cause for you to disregard him, and I imagine that you've never actually listened to him speak for any length of time. But his command of the English language was magnificent, his knowledge of history was first-rate and his ability to rattle his opponents was a joy to behold.

So I take your utter disregard for him as a purely defensive maneuver so that you don't get a boo-boo on your frontal lobes.
