Excellent points. Thank you for your thoughts, Kerry.
My pleasure. I, like Emily Dickinson (my new favorite poet, who was actually contemporary with Joseph Smith) seek the unknow. The unknown here is the totally ridiculous whole affair as explained considering the "doctrine" of how much God supposedly loves the world  as why not spend a few days really giving Joseph Smith the skinny on so many VITAL and IMPORTANT things that could so MUCH have benefitted the world??? It is flat out ludicrous as this is told. The question is ridiculously narrow and silly enough, but God's reaction is downright heinous with lack of desire to even bother helping out the world. This demonstrates, more than we have supposed, that if it is real, it is a liability against a loving God, not a feather in his celestial temple baker's hat. Theologically this is a disastrous nightmare.

We have the putative maker of the universe right here in front of you...give the skinny on so many necessary and important things the world actually NEEDS.
He did.

Yeah, the self proclaimed prophet then and those self proclaimed prophets today should have been asking and should be asking today how to stop wars, feed the hungry, stop/cure disease like sars-cov-2, prevent evil, etc. Or ask why on earth God sits back and lets this stuff happen? Why is it so important to know secret words and do seemingly meaningless ceremonies, wasting time searching records for names that God could easily provide for the supposed sacred ordinances if he wanted to, but is content to let his children spin their wheels looking for Juan born in 1525 in Peru? Why couldn't God just have one of his stooges do the work all at once for everyone? Why does God love to hide the money from the members of his supposed church? Why does God need a hedge fund when he could have simply told one of his leading stooges or group of stooges how to invent something like the personal computer or certain software back in the day and then use the proceeds from that to run the church without having to take 10% like so many religious parasites do?

And on and on ...........

God has had something to say on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th issue in your list. Three out of four ain’t bad. And on #3 we have science and human ingenuity to tackle the problem. I’ll have to tell ya, you sound as though you haven’t even given any serious thought to how, when, and why God interacts with mankind.

You’re one of those ‘silver platter’ folks.

Kerry said Joseph didn’t ask the right questions. That’s just not true. Joseph did. And the answers given, by God and His Son, have the potential to save the human race...if we would listen and obey.

But when you come up with this kind of crap it’s not so difficult to see why we’re in such a mess. No offense intended.

Why don't you enlighten me with how it is crap to ask what is the purpose of going on an easter egg hunt to find names when temple work could easily be done a la how the atonement was performed? There are seniors who have wasted hours upon hours searching records when they could have been spending time with grandchildren or doing something beneficial for society. Yet, they are told that for some reason (just trust the leaders here) that finding the hidden names will somehow be of some benefit to those who had the misfortune to die prior to the age of accurate records.

Why do you think it is important to learn secret signs and tokens? Seems rather silly to have your eternal future dependent on knowing how to shake the Mormon god's hand when you meet him.

But, please explain where I am wrong and try not to use any logical fallacies in doing so.

I do believe God should have taken Bednar's (?) advice when he said to answer the question they should have asked. God should have answered the question that should have been asked instead of being obligated to answer his selfish or pointless questions. "Oh so you have this opportunity to sit in front of me and ask me a question and you want me to say you are forgiven of "sins" and tell you which Church is the right one?"

"Yes, sir"

"Oh boy...here we go again. No church's are right or true. They can't be. I mean they keep telling the stupidest things about me and using manipulative tools to get people to agree. Don't you go off trying to do the same thing. "sins"? Who cares about that concept? Stop feeling so concerned about yourself and start thinking about joining humanity and making your world a better place. Don't get all stupid on me and start using your charisma and influence to take advantage of women...That's so typical. Don't be a fool and proclaim some levels of exclusivity to truth, preaching nonsense like Jesus sacrifices for sins and people who don't believe or get baptized are lacking my attention. Don't get caught up in creating enemies out of those who disagree with you. Not only is the Old Testament lacking a good description of reality and me, but so is the New. Don't start getting high and mighty and writing scripture. Collaborate. I ain't really helping you guys. You're there...I mean do what you want. I'll meet you when I meet you. But please don't start a religion, don't write scripture, don't misuse people, don't embrace the divisive dogma that is religion. Just give it up....this hope that you are going to know some true religion while others do not. "It's not about you, you arrogant prick", says Robin Williams character on Good Will Hunting-- a movie coming out in the future that you should see. oh...you don't know what a movie is? Well, of course not. You don't know what hardly anything is. Once you realize that you might stop trying to ask me the wrong question. Just please don't write something down and put in the words "And God said..." or some such nonsense. You're feelings aren't me. You're seemingly ingenious ideas are nonsense...please don't tell people because you thought something and felt good about it that it means I'm with you on that. Alight...this is going in one ear and out the other, I can tell. I can tell you are going to use this to tell people you are forgiven of "sins" and that I want to you become some prophet. oh well...I tried. I'm done doing this visiting these people who feel special but won't hear what I say. I think those who eschew religion are better off. I know...you don't hear that. You hear what you want to hear. …"

This all makes sense, but what do I know? I am one of those who thinks religion is made up by those who want a little power over the flock they create, illogical implications be damned.

Here is another question that I always had, why would god choose a spokesperson in the first place? Why not just appear to everyone at once, like on CNN or something, giving his message? Yet, he supposedly, conveniently, appears to the super special selected magicians like Joseph Smith, and no one else, and we are then supposed to rely on the self-serving "revelations" that the super special chosen ones tell us.

MG: How do you explain the need for fallible prophets when God could easily appear and speak to the children he supposedly loves? This way, there wouldn't be any cause to throw his chosen ones under the bus in the future when another chosen one deems it necessary. There would be better control of the message, too, with less mistakes in interpretation, because God, himself would be the one giving it to a wide audience.

Scribed by Fredrick G. Williams:

...therefore I cried unto the Lord for mercy for there was none else to whom I could go and to obtain mercy and the Lord heard my cry... I saw the Lord and he spake unto me saying Joseph (my son) thy sins are forgiven thee. go thy (way) walk in my statutes and keep my commandments behold I am the Lord of glory I was crucifyed for the world that all those who believe on my name may have Eternal life.

http://www.utlm.org/onlineresources/fir ... th1832.htm
Joseph went to God asking a rather simple question. “Father, how is it that I can be forgiven of my sins?”

Why would you be suspicious of Joseph for having this concern?

Regards,
MG
[/quote]

To me if Fredrick Williams scribed it correctly has basic elements of a person, born again, acknowledging his/her sinfulness, crying out to God for mercy and forgiveness-this would occur many times in camp /revival meetings. what makes Smith's different is that God talked to him, forgiving his sins and telling him to walk in obedience to God's laws, which joseph forgot about as his life progressed. oh well!

Silver platter syndrome. Why doesn’t God just do it all?

It looks like you would have been on board with Satan’s plan. No work. No requirements. Free salvation.

No growth.

Silver platter again. Bring it to me. No work on my part. No need to study it out. No need to experiment upon the word. Easy peasy.
