By mashing into a poultice and applying directly. I doubt its as useful a remedy as arnica, though. I can't speak to the use of vetrinary tobacco. Perhaps there are some cowherds here who can?

Is this a common practice, to use tobacco as a poultice on bruises and cattle? I ask, because I have never heard anyone using it for such a thing, and in fact, if the Lord God Almighty is going to offer sage advice, why would He offer up advice that would be little used or of little use?

My understanding is that this was a common natural treatment for bruising during the early nineteenth century. (Not that I am an expert but I spent a few years studying medicinal herbs at the School of Natural Healing).
