Because the position that man is God is inconsistent with other scriptures.

A new world is formed and made ready for these spirit children and the savior comes down and saves them (and this what has happened and will happen forever). I believe this is what Joseph Smith was driving at.

It is an interesting idea.

Where do the Celestials (gods) come from?

The celestials are us (the gods) and prior "saved" generations. When we are saved and attain the Celestial Kingdom, this is part of what we partake in - the organizing of the next generation of spirits for the next world. This is not the first Earth nor will it be the last.

That does not mean that Joseph Smith did not teach it.

You are also making affirmative statements of belief outside of scriptures or the teachings of Joseph Smith. What is your basis for asserting these things?

Not seeing this in the Bible or the rest of the LDS standard works:

Tobin wrote:I believe what happens is there is God, who organizes a savior (the only begotten of God), and there are the Celestials (gods), who organize the other other spirit children (you and me). A new world is formed and made ready for these spirit children and the savior comes down and saves them (and this what has happened and will happen forever).

The idea that there is a separate group of gods called Celestials who are our creators, who are distinct from the God who is Jesus' father, is contrary to the teachings of Joseph Smith.

What is the basis for your assertions?

Don't worry about it. This isn't something that should concern you.

Tobin wrote:Actually, the idea that Mormons can become God is blasphemy and a misconception that only some Mormons (and those outside the church) have.

This particular blasphemy was too much for many of the early saints when they heard Joseph Smith teach it. So, in disagreeing with Smith, Tobin, you are taking a stand like one of the early heroes of Mormonism; yea, even William Law, who said such teachings were "false and damnable." Welcome to the club!
