MG 2.0, I’m sorry to read about the death of your mother in law and your wife’s accident. I hope her recovery from both goes well. Please, please, for the love of God please log off of here for a month or so. This thread is toxic as crap and no one needs or deserves that when trying to cope with so much real life adversity.
You need support from others right now, and this ain’t the place for it. Spend time talking to friends, relatives, your bishop, a therapist — whatever it takes. Be with people that help you be your best self.
Come back and battle with the heathen when your real life situation is better.
Take care,
RI
thankyou res Ipsa,
I am horrified.
Maybe there is an excuse. MG is such a skill troller that he forces people to behave this way.horse....
There might be another excuse—those types of responses don’t assume MG is being straightforward about his personal situation. Sympathy is appropriate if the claims are accurate, but they don’t obligate everyone else to suspend skepticism.

However, there's an argument to be made - a good one, I believe - to err on the side of kindness and grace.
OTOH, am I the only board member skeptical enough to look for an official report of an accident matching MG's description? Apart from the idea that, at least in common usage, a non-articulated vehicle doesn't "jack-knife".

I confess that I looked as well, yes. This might be one of those dilemmas that don’t have a clean answer, but I do appreciate the lean towards grace.

I've been strictly accurate. One more thing to add. We reached a settlement on the car. Obviously the Subaru was a total loss. We now have a new Toyota Corolla Cross.
Do I need to share the VIN number?
My wife and her sister went to the mortuary this morning to 'dress' their mother.
Do I need to show evidence of this also?
C'mon guys, get real. I could post pictures of the car after it was totaled and I went up to the storage lot in Salt Lake. The problem is, some folks would say I got the pictures online, etc.
This has been an interesting thing to observe. Especially with IHQ and one or two other posters. Overboard. Sick in a way.

Yes. In addition to the truthfulness issue is the way the situation was used. In between other posts to other threads that included the poster's standard stereotyping and ad hoc attacks, this information about an accident was inserted, apparently to excuse the posting equivalent of a hit and run. And by in between I mean within minutes. I am curious why the three week old accident was invoked as an excuse only on this thread, when other threads were contributed to in the normal manner. Not that curious though, as the poster's methods are pretty well known.

Congrats. Hope all is well.
You might just have to accept that people don’t believe everything you claim.

Unfortunately that is partly my fault in that I have accused others here of lying. I suppose it would be natural for them to come back at me and make the same accusations.
I suppose at the end of the day what matters is whether we personally can have confidence in our own integrity and truthfulness. As my wife says, "Can I sleep when the wind blows".
For me, as an outsider, hearing Boyd K. Packer’s admonition that some things that are true may not be useful has led to a healthy skepticism toward LDS truth claims. Once truth is filtered by usefulness, trust becomes fragile regardless of sincerity. It doesn’t cast members in a particularly flattering light, because it lets the listener know that full candor may not be on the table from the beginning.

I think it was unfortunate he said that. Elder Ballard and Elder Snow were forced to make course corrections years later.
One thing to consider in forming your opinions/judgements is that members of the church are individuals with brains. We're human just like you!
