Hey all you cool cats and kittens here at DiscussMormonism. Which one of you bet MG 2.0 couldn't make it a week, that turning the other cheek platitude? Step forward, you are the winner!!!!
Define "turning the other cheek".

Regards,
MG
You were the one claiming you were turning the other cheek. If you are trying to wriggle out of your trying to be better by asking for a definition when you know you've violated any reasonable definition thereof, you are going to fail spectacularly--as you do consistently.

Hey Board Members--maybe we ought to start wagers on how long MG 2.0's other cheek will last.
They are both still intact. You are a silly person.

Regards,
MG

You are the one that believes in the silly "theology". Yet you have the audacity to call me silly? Ironic, isn't it?

He wasn't able to give a definition of "turning the other cheek" which applied within the context of this board and the responses/posts that I've made. I don't think you are able to either. Since I committed to do better (much better than others) at turning the other cheek, I have done so.

And I feel better for having done so. Sometimes I was letting others, including you, get under my skin and I would...at times (not that often, however) say things that could be interpreted as being hurtful or unkind.

The truth is, I can say or do just about ANYTHING and be accused of not playing nice. I'm very cognizant of what 'turning the other cheek' is...and I'm also aware of what it is to be a wuss. Not gonna be a wuss.

I've turned the other cheek, just today, by letting others know "I'm done" with a conversation when it is going nowhere and individuals are defaulting to nonsensical 'cheap shots'. It's easer to end it than it is do continue the silliness. I've fallen prey to doing that with you TOO many times to mention.

Am I reading this right???

A mentalgymnast uses the phrase "I will turn the other cheek," and is now having a tantrum because other people won't define it for him? This is one of those things that is so ridiculous that you can only conclude he is trolling, because even he knows how silly this is.
...One way of detecting online trolling involves looking out for patterns of speech or words associated with trolling activity. These include behaviors such as...[making] false claims or [using] inflammatory language designed to provoke a reaction from their targets—all tactics intended to disrupt conversation....
https://www.truzzer.com/the-psychology- ... -comments/
It is a sad situation, and I firmly believe the following explanation from the same link applies here:
...For many trolls, harassing or attacking someone else gives them a sense of dominance and superiority over another person – something which may be lacking in other parts of their lives...
Maybe we should set up a count?
...[P]ay close attention to how often the same user makes questionable remarks on controversial topics; this could indicate a troll engaging in “trolling-by-volume” tactics—frequently posting provocative messages designed to draw out negative reactions from other participants in order to disrupt conversation flow...
Or... maybe not. Like the bogus cheek turning, MG has tried to disrupt threads so many times that he has lost whatever provocative edge he thinks he once had. He even admits failing to stop is wrong of him. Now, It's just a very, very sad spectacle. Sorry lurkers.

But never fear, whatever sadness a mentalgymnast might feel is more than made up by the encouragement he receives from the consistently strong Everybody Wang Chung. Any wussmentalgymnast would consider themselves blessed to have a friend in Everybody Wang Chung!!!

“Religion isn’t just going away, it’s transforming,” Schnabel told PsyPost. “People aren’t just becoming secular due to reason or rationality — though they can definitely be relevant — they’re becoming fed up with religious organizations based on faith traditions that taught them to love others, care about more than money, and be moral and ethical people of integrity.”

“But then sometimes they don’t see the organizations living up to those values and they leave the organization but not always the faith tradition. Or they leave the faith tradition and they explore other ways of being people of integrity, often, though certainly not always, through spirituality.”

To understand these trends more fully, the researchers analyzed interview data from 54 participants whose religious involvement had significantly declined over the decade. These interviews revealed a recurring theme: many young people left institutional religion not because they stopped caring about spirituality, but because they felt a growing disconnect between their personal values and the teachings or practices of religious organizations. They spoke of churches that felt judgmental, hypocritical, or out of touch—particularly on issues of gender and sexuality. Participants described feeling alienated by institutions that seemed to limit, rather than support, their pursuit of authenticity, justice, and self-understanding.

[bolding added by me, to emphasize the key point I see-- the importance of taking responsibility for one's own "pursuit of authenticity, justice, and self-understanding."

Mormonism is a prime of example of that kind of Church. It checks those exact boxes.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

He wasn't able to give a definition of "turning the other cheek" which applied within the context of this board and the responses/posts that I've made. I don't think you are able to either. Since I committed to do better (much better than others) at turning the other cheek, I have done so.

Would you care to specifically demonstrate within the last week or so where I have NOT turned the other cheek? Oh, I think you will find that you will be hard pressed not to define the terms of your accusation first and show that your definition has merit.

The work you went to in your previous post to cut and paste and create a strawman was an example of wasted effort at proving something that doesn't exist.

Am I 'turning the other cheek' if I simply let you have your way in preaching falsehoods? That doesn't comport with my definition of what this phrase means.

What does it mean on a board such as this one to "turn the other cheek"? And where have I NOT done so in the last week? But remember, as I said, I'm not going to be a wuss in my responses...for you, or anyone else.

The teachings/doctrines of the CofJCofLDS may not always align with the culture of the day.

One might actually expect that. ;)
