That's all fair enough Lamanite, but harmony isn't Lamanite.

I have a brother who was world famous in athletics in the 1950s, held several world sprint records, and in 1955 was called "the world's fastest human". He later went on to become a millionaire, and then lost it all in the stock market crash of '87, then rebuilt his life again. He's like you, a doer, an achiever, and ambitious.

I am not you, nor my brother, but no one can call me lazy. Unambitious, perhaps, and a rather pedestrian runner in comparison to my brother. I have worked pretty hard throughout my life, but I've never been ambitious to get rich, and in fact prefer to live modestly, or as has been said of Nibley, "not high on the hill nor high on the hog". I'm actually a very simple person who enjoys simple things. So, we are different. And harmony is different. But my brother never understood this about me. Today he's in serious debt again. I am not. In fact I'm reasonably well off, but instead of working harder to earn more, which I could, or risking it like my son and earning $3,000 per week, I'm content to earn much less and get by on modest meals.

You're trying to impose on someone else your philosophy of life, which is something my brother always did to me, and at the time I resented it. Today he realises that the old story of the hare and the tortoise is true. Maybe one day harmony will have an effect, but let her pursue it in her way, rather than trying to force yours upon her.

Complaining in the meantime is pretty fruitless.
One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

That's what this board is for, LoaP. It's called "Mormon Discussions".

Here is what the home page says:

Mormon Discussions. . . Because we all want the truth.

Here is a place of free discussion. Whether you want to discuss the finer intricacies of doctrine, or whether you want to discuss the truthiness of the church in general, your word will be heard here.

Pro, anti, investigator, questioner, critic, apologetic, no matter what you call yourself, what you have to say, or what your agenda is, you have a place here. We pride ourselves on a minimalistic moderation policy, so that your voice is always heard.

One's "complaining" is another's "debate" or "discussion." Where would we be if the Founding Fathers hadn't "complained" about the American colonies' treatment by the Crown?
"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."

To accuse men of living "by the lamp of their own conceit" and refuse to confront them with that exact statement is cowardice. It runs rampant here. Many people say things here they are too afraid to say in person. I would suggest you keep your mouth shut until you find the character to speak your mind in a constructive polite way to those you disagree with. To complain of problems and refuse to do anything but complain, is just silly. Look at the list above. It's full of men and women who sacrificed a great deal, even unto death, to accomplish their goals and callings in life.

Harmony what are you willing to sacrifice for your own beliefs?

Big UP!

But Ray you're missing the most beautiful part. You have everything you want! Me too. The universe/God/Vishnu wants us to succeed. You work hard and have been given what you desire. Praise God.

Harmony, has taken a path I cannot agree with. She doesn't have to be me or you. She just needs to keep it real. She says XYZ on this board, but won't say XYZ to the people she says it about? That's fake and phony and weak, in my eyes.

Big UP!

Yes, the true heroes weren't those who fought in battles, spilled their blood, risked their lives for treasonous acts, wrote the constitution, participated actively in politics, etc. It was those behind-the-scenes whiners.
