When you say jon fooled himself and voluntarily donated the tithing he paid, I could not agree more. It takes self-delusion to do most things Mormon, including high on the list the paying of tithing. Fooled himself right into thinking "god" somehow wanted him to do that.

Quite the contrary. Tithing has aided me immensely, and I have seen the results of paying it time and again in my life.

The question is: If tithing ISN'T the source of Church funds for commercial enterprise, then what is...?
Where does a Church get billions of dollars of liquid funds to build a commercial shopping mall if it doesn't come from the members...?
