I am not in a charity contest with you, you prideful dolt. I pay 10% of my income to the Church which helped, helps, and will continue to help millions of people around the world -- especially when natural disasters occur.
Sadly, that isn't where your 10% goes, nor it's proceeds gained from investing it.
Humanitarian aid is funded by additional contributions from the members.
From LDS.Org
Humanitarian projects are funded by donations from Church members and others.
One-hundred percent of these donations go directly to help the poor and needy. In-kind material assistance is provided through items donated by Church members and others.
The bit in bold gives the game away - that it is purely non-tithing contributions.
Simon, your tithing does not contribute to humanitarian aid, not a single cent of it.
I don't say that to have a go at you - but to ensure you fully understand that you are not contributing to the Churches humanitarian 'spend' unless you make additional payments above and beyond the 10% tithe.
Simon - here is where your money goes:
'An aerial view shows the progress on the City Creek project in downtown Salt Lake City Thursday, May 26, 2011. Construction on the estimated $1.5 billion
(nearly twenty times the amount that was donated by members seperately to tithing which was passed on by the Church for humanitarian aid) development is expected to be finished by March 22, 2012. When completed, City Creek Center will feature an estimated 800,000 square feet of shopping and dining space. The 23-acre development will include a mix of residences, retail and office space'
