Indeed, Book of Mormon. Issues with the church.
Well I'm confuzzled harmony. I see issues with God all over this board. I do have issues with faith and spirituality and it is something that interests me greatly! Sorry if my considerations and issues don't quite meet others definition of 'issues' that they like to read about.
Issues with God, Book of Mormon. God does not equal the LDS church (much as the apologists would have us believe it does). And even then, I have no issue with discussing your issues with God. I do have issues with seeing your kitty poop (and anyone else's, lest you again personalize my statement to meaning only you) all over threads in the Terrestial forum, derailing them. Keep your discussions focused on the LDS church and/or God, and we'll get along fine.
No one's asking anyone to leave. Where did that come from? All I'm saying is, to those who are currently not: post appropriate to the forum.
How bout you PM a Mod and ask them to deal with it instead of whining about it? I too have issues with people being called names (matter of fact I had a knock down drag out for a few pages with schmo when you were called an innapropriate name!) and being cruel in this forum. I do not enjoy it at all.
Why? This is a thread about the state of the forum. Any mod can read it. So can anyone else. I'm not averse to being open and upfront, as opposed to resorting to the covert, as in the PM system.
I also find the sexual twitters sort of silly sometimes... but CONSIDERING the LDS have a really, really, really funked up repressed sexuality then that is COMPLETELY understandable. It appears, to me, that the sexual hurrahs or snickerings DO directly relate to how people have issues with sexuality in their lives. I see it as completely appropriate - even if it skeeves me out sometimes. Again, understanding that each person has their own way of coping with their issues - and that IS a Church issue Harmony.
When the thread is about sexuality, especially when it's about the LDS church and sexuality, I agree with you. Unfortunately, many many threads that become sexualized are not about sexuality at all. And I am objecting that that happens, especially as often as it has lately.
Recall the numerous threads on masturbation? Guilt? Sexual relations in a marriage? Etc.. these things manifest in sometimes bizarre ways on this board. It is perfectly clear to me, when I see it, what is happening. I understand that it DOES relate to the Church in many instances.
Agreed. That doesn't address when masturbation is brought up as a red herring, completely unrelated to the thread subject though. I don't appreciate that, no matter who brings it in.
Perhaps people should ask the Mods to split the threads off... unless of course the ENTIRE thread deals with sexuality - as is often the case since human sexuality is a topic the Church takes on.
Indeed. And why should we have to resort to that? Why can people not police themselves, and make appropriate comments, based on the subject of the thread, instead of inserting inappropriate comments? We should be able to moderate ourselves. This isn't MAD, after all, where the babysitting is almost mandatory.
No, you aren't, and no, it isn't. I'm saying that as gently as I am able.
Well I was being silly (see I do THAT!) when I wrote that Harmony.
Indeed. and it wasn't appropriate. And I let you know that, as gently as I know how. See? That's what I do... at least sometimes, when I care enough. If I didn't care, I wouldn't bother to be gentle.
Smut belongs in Telestial, period. Never in Terrestial, never in Celestial. Only by staying true to the values of MDB can we attract and keep posters across the spectrum of belief. Smut placed inappropriately only gives MAD ammunition against us. If you want to wallow in a kitty litter box, by all means, do so... in Telestial where such smut belongs.
What do you define as smut? Perhaps this is where there is a breakdown in communication? I rarely see real smutty things in this forum.
Smut is like obscenity. I know it when I see it. Sexualizing a thread that has no connection to sexual issues (masturbation, references to whips and chains, etc) is imappropriate in this forum. They belong in Telestial.
Perhaps everyone has different sensibilities and it is difficult to know what is or is not completely innapropriate. For instance, what Schmo said to me in this thread would most definitely, I believe, belong in the Telestial forum. Now I don't have my panties in a wad about it but if someone else does shoot a PM to a Mod.
Again, we shouldn't have to PM a mod. We should post appropriate to the Terrestial forum. I shouldn't have to remind anyone what is appropriate; we all know when we step over the line. We should self-police, instead of following the MAD pattern of running to the mods to mop up the kitty poop in the middle of the conversation.
Dead horse?
On the contrary. Valid discussion.
