You’ve often spoken of ‘good things’ that need to be preserved as a reason for being a member.

Are there any good things in life that you can or would like to preserve that don’t require church membership, or a 10% processing fee?

Bret, I think that someone with a conscience cannot afford to replace doing something for what that someone at least once thought was the benefit of humanity, with doing nothing at all. So yes, I think it is necessary that something take its place.

I would suggest that you let YOU take it's place. Plan to spend months giving yourself time to think and reflect, do what feeds you and what keeps you healthy, spend relaxed time with your family if you have one. If family relationships are complicated spend time in solitude but try to keep in touch with your people. If you believe in God, add prayer to what I've said. Take time to read--anything that captures your interest. Volunteer in your community or donate to others. Spend time in nature.

And grow something. Grow YOU.

Canpakes, I can't think of any that I know how to preserve forever without such a membership. That's why I asked the question.

Canpakes, I can't think of any that I know how to preserve forever without such a membership. That's why I asked the question.

OK. Then what are, say, several good things worth preserving that do require membership?

So Marcus, are you saying that nobody in the other 99.9% have causes, or are you saying that when they leave their causes they don't feel the need to devote their lives to other causes?
