What's the Alternative?
What exactly is the alternative to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? If, for some reason, I were to conclude that I should leave the LDS Church, what should I let take its place?

Is it necessary that something take its place? If so, allow me to tell you the good news about Amway.

You’ve often spoken of ‘good things’ that need to be preserved as a reason for being a member.
Are there any good things in life that you can or would like to preserve that don’t require church membership, or a 10% processing fee?

You could only ask this question from the inside.
Out here, in the other 99.9% of the world, people, organizations, interests, motivations, reasons, or in other words 99.9% of humanity, your question is simply nonsensical.

Bret, I think that someone with a conscience cannot afford to replace doing something for what that someone at least once thought was the benefit of humanity, with doing nothing at all. So yes, I think it is necessary that something take its place.Bret Ripley wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 2:57 amIs it necessary that something take its place?
Why do you think Amway is an improvement over the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?Bret Ripley wrote:If so, allow me to tell you the good news about Amway.

Re: What's the Alternative?
I would suggest that you let YOU take it's place. Plan to spend months giving yourself time to think and reflect, do what feeds you and what keeps you healthy, spend relaxed time with your family if you have one. If family relationships are complicated spend time in solitude but try to keep in touch with your people. If you believe in God, add prayer to what I've said. Take time to read--anything that captures your interest. Volunteer in your community or donate to others. Spend time in nature.
And grow something. Grow YOU.

Canpakes, I can't think of any that I know how to preserve forever without such a membership. That's why I asked the question.

So Marcus, are you saying that nobody in the other 99.9% have causes, or are you saying that when they leave their causes they don't feel the need to devote their lives to other causes?Marcus wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 3:15 amYou could only ask this question from the inside.KevinSim wrote:Wed Oct 12, 2022 2:45 amWhat exactly is the alternative to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
