The way I see it, the former had a vlog titled "8 Passengers" wherein she gave parenting advice, while the latter was her business partner (doing what, I don't know). Then one of the former's kids showed up on a neighbor's doorstep, begging for food & water, in an emaciated state and with duct tape residue around his wrists and ankles.
Now people are saying that Ms. Hildebrandt has perpetrated much more child abuse, which makes sense considering that such parents never stop at one instance. The only other connection to Mormonism this case has, besides Ms. Hildebrandt being a member, is that the LDS church referred people to her in her professional capacity as a marriage & family counselor. Sounds pretty innocuous if the rank-and-file bishops didn't know what went on behind closed doors.
Beyond that, will someone please summarize the answers to the following questions for us?
- In another thread, Philo Sofee is saying that the church at the highest levels is culpable in perpetuating massive abuse and funneling a large amount of funds to her. How so? What do they have to do with any of this?
- What other sort of abuse is Jodi Hildebrandt accused of perpetrating, for how long, and against how many victims?
- What connection does Ruby Franke have to any of the abuse if she was only Jodi's business partner?
- Of those accusing Jodi of perpetrating additional acts of abuse, why didn't they come forward sooner?
- What other details are pertinent that I haven't mentioned (because I don't know what they are)?
- Aside from the irony that she ran a parenting advice vlog, how and why is this case any worse than any other run-of-the-mill child abuse case? (I work in law enforcement, so maybe I'm a bit jaded, but this story so far as I'm aware seems like something you'd see on a slow Tuesday.)
