As toxic and disgusting as politics has been in the past, it's now far worse and it has caused enormous damage and division to this country - as well as serious damage and deep divisiveness amongst all of the citizens who live in this country (it's demonic in my opinion).

I agree with your above and, I think, even the demonic part. Now me. I also think that Trump himself opened the door to division, unrest, and violence, by modeling it through his speeches. And yet, the Lord keeps putting people in his path that could influence him in positive ways and he continues to reject them, Ceeboo, over and over and over again.

While I have no issues with you making a suggestion about the Lord putting people in his path that could influence him in positive ways, I am very hesitant to make any such suggestion about what the Lord is doing (or not doing) as it relates to Trump specifically. On a broader scale, I am equally hesitant to suggest what the Lord is doing (or not doing) concerning the future of America and/or American politics generally.

There was an incident just recently that happened within virtual days of his display of dangerous rhetoric that I believe was intended to influence Trump and so far as I know I've seen no sign of his recognizing it. Perhaps that is yet to come but I think not. He simply refuses to learn or respond to the wake up call when it's put right in front of his face.

What recent incident? What was intended, in your view?

That's how I see it. I don't expect you or anyone else to agree with me.

Whether I agree with you or not isn't important. The critically important thing, in my opinion, is that America returns to a place where it's citizens (much broader than simply you and I) can engage one another, share ideas with one another, with common decency and a basic level of civility extended in both directions.

I want to clarify my remarks on the PBS News special on Monday night about the ongoing cease fire talks in the Middle East. As I said, this was not based on my original reporting; I was referring to reports I had read, in Axios and Reuters, about former President Trump having spoken to the Israeli Prime Minister. In the live TV moment, I repeated the story because I hadn't seen later reporting that both sides denied it. This was a mistake and I apologize for it.

Like many modern journalists, seems like she might not be "very good" at understanding what responsible reporting looks like and/or what her role as a reporter actually is.

It's regrettable for sure that she said that; however, I think there is a distinction to be made between repeating a falsehood (and quickly retracting/apologizing) and perpetrating a hoax. I guess I'm not sold on calling this instance a hoax, but my mind can be changed. (shrug)
