Today is a very special day! No, not because it's Joseph Smith's 215th birthday, silly.
It's special because it's the birthday of someone who's brought FAR more joy, and far LESS controversy, into the world: KASHIYUKA! If you don't know her, then you're in for a treat. She's 1/3 of the membership of PERFUME, the official Japanese electro-pop musical group of DiscussMormonism.com. Her music, singing, and dancing--not to mention her cuteness and sweetness--have uplifted the spirit, and the mood, of millions across the globe, thanks in great part to YouTube.com . . . that's how I, for one, discovered her.
Here are examples of some of her more famous non-music video, uh, videos so you can get to know her a little better:
- Kashiyuka and the Snake. Someone dropped off a snake to the set where they were filming a "The View"-style episode, and everyone else on the panel freaked out. . . but not Kashiyuka! Her deep love of animals trumped all fear and much hilarity ensued. You don't need to know Japanese to get a kick out of this.
- Kashiyuka's Magical Hair Kashiyuka's luxuriant hair is her defining feature, and here's a mid-concert clip of Nocchi (another 1/3 of Perfume) encouraging her to show it off to the audience. Subtitled!
