Aside from the laughable aspects of many elements of your list, you entirely miss the point. The point isn't policy. The point isn't liberal versus conservative.
The point is attitude towards people.
So you think you have a better way to help eradicate poverty? Fine, present it. But if you actually think that poor people are just lazy, looking for hand-outs, you'd better keep that to yourself while running for president. If you think that 47% of the American population are lazy victims, you'd better keep that to yourself while running for president. Because otherwise, you know, you're going to look like an arrogant, dismissive jerk who has lived his life benefiting from privileges he can't even recognize.
The fact is that the economy has resulted in many people receiving help from government. And that includes many people who have worked hard all their lives and want to continue doing so. That includes people who have taken responsibility for their lives and care for their lives. But they're in a position where they need help. I know there are some people like that on this board, as a matter of fact, because they've openly referred to that in the past, although I doubt they will do so now. And Mitt Romney is including them in his dismissive statement. In fact, nearly every person in the US right now probably knows someone who has needed government assistance during this economic crisis. I think many of them, conservative or not, will be offended by Romney's attitude.
At any rate, they should be.
