honorentheos wrote:The issue is very much about minors being separated from the parents at the border because that is a new policy being enacted by the Trump administration. The majority of minors who were arriving in 2014 were older adolescent youth who arrived without a parent or legal guardian. The Obama admin rightly received heat for their ill-prepared attempt to do what government is good at doing poorly. That being, not being adaptable to change and kids were the victims of that. The shelters and processes currently in place are largely a result of government doing only what it can do that the private sector cannot. That being, scaling up and applying the resources needed to move big things that would otherwise be too expensive or lack the reward mechanisms to entice private enterprise in a way that also provides a just result. That was going on in 2016, 2017 and is going on today in 2018. And the demand keeps increasing as well.
The Trump campaign has sins all their own when it comes to forcible separation of families because that is new. And it's not mistaken to direct that criticism at Trump.

I know that you’re incapable of discussing such things without squealing, “but, Obama..!”. I would have not expected anything different.

The policy for separation at the border is receiving attention as well, but this method of detainment is not new.
You are trying to spin the story just to keep the hair-fire du jour going...the truth is, until it was politically advantageous to you, you did not care about the immigrant kids in 2018, 2017, 2016, or even 2014....and I would wager you did not think twice about those 2014 images (assuming you even saw them then).
your white tears being replaced with crocodile tears indeed.

I know that, cp. I was pointing out that the 2014 pics are being used to portray the living conditions of minors who are being detained today. My post that you quoted and replied to here, was a follow up to my recent post (about 2 posts prior) on half assed reporting.
Jersey Girl, note who posted that pic. ; )
