Good point. Republicans were so worked up over Nixon, that they sought to impeach over getting a BJ - a practice Republicans had been engaging in with their male congressional pages for quite some time.

Nothing ajax posts is well thought out nor based in any kind of reality. In other words, he's missing all possibilities, because he refuses to live in the real world. Every single post of his is damned nonsense. He just says stuff with a wish that it were true.

There needs to be a word for idiots like Trump and his idiot supporters like ajax for when they belligerently assert what everyone knows is BS. Asserthole?

If you are speeding, and you get caught, you get a ticket. Even if you slow down to a legal speed after being caught by a cop, you still broke the law. By instructing the whistleblower to not speak with Congress, by saying they would not comply with Congress' request, and by writing a memorandum justifying their action, they are showing intent to commit a crime, acted on that intent, and then attempt to cover up the crime post-facto.

Trumptards-> bUt tHE prEsIdEnT iS aBoVe ThE lAw!

Well, a law is only a law if there is someone to enforce it. All it takes is someone from the Administration offering some tortured reading of the law to provide a flimsy excuse for saying "no" and the Republicans in control of the Senate will fall right in line.

Ok. So, say it goes to court. It will eventually make it to the Supreme Court where partisan judges will decide one for the home team. Plus, Trump will likely be out if office before it gets this far anyway. Then Trumptards would point to this as a big nothingburger created by sniveling Democrats who will do anything to get back at Trump for his humiliating defeat of Hillary.

If Pelosi is actually on board with impeachment it’s only because she believes this particular misstep by Trump will weaken his reelection chances, not because she believes he’ll actually get removed from office through impeachment.

Ahead of it being released, it's looking increasingly likely that the "transcript" is no such thing. 1) There is no low too low. 2) Funny to note on this board given the history online discussions with LDS apologists.

Once again we’re treated to subgenius’ absolute refusal to read a thread, follow its context, and then issue a statement that confirms his, and by extension Trump’s base, intractable ignorance. He literally doesn’t understand my analogy has nothing to do with Trump’s dirt digging, but rather the administrations attempts to not comply with Congressional oversight.

I dunno. I think we’re witnessing the demise of our Republic, and it’s not due to evil, but rather to partisans so wrapped up in their hubris they are beyond redemption. They’re useful idiots, even called as such by their dear leader(!), and are so mired in their ignorance they’ve become incapable of reason and rational discussion.

I do think subgenius feels the occasional blush of shame when he’s caught out in his abject stupidity, but the memory of that hot embarrassment fades quickly and he’s back with his little dumb quips as he pulls himself out of whatever online cesspools he inhabits, decides to visit MDB to poke at the Libs, and is quickly put down again. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.

It helps to put things in context. Remember the most ardent Trump supporters are the same people that believe the Earth is 6K years old, and suffered a recent global flood. Evidence, and rationale are not their strong suite.

If this memo is Trump’s idea of exoneration, he’s in serious trouble. Here’s what I see in the memo:

Trump: The US is the only real friend you’ve got. We’ve been very, very good to Ukraine.
Trump: We’ve helped you a tremendous amount, but the relationship hasn’t been reciprocal.
Ukrainian President: We appreciate your military support. We’re ready to buy some more weapons.
Trump: I want you to do me a favor, though. Meet with my lawyer and the attorney general, who will help you investigate Joe Biden getting your terrific prosecutor fired.
Ukrainian President: We’ll investigate that.
Trump: Let me know when you want to visit the White House.

Context: Russians are attacking militarily. A week before the call, Trump had ordered a suspension of the military aid approved by Congress.

I don't believing anyone would bet on the Senate voting to convict Trump with regard to impeachment, but you have to admit it was one of the most jaw-dropping, surprising votes the Senate voted 100-0 to release the whistleblower complaint. Sure it was nonbinding, still a huge turn of events from previous stonewalling. I don't really get why Mitch McConnell would lead a unanimous vote for Trump oversight. Is he playing politics? Trying to get ahead of something the public doesn't know? Is the writing on the wall being seen, in a sense? I have no idea, but it was weird.

In case some of our more daft readers don't understand why an impeachment proceeding has been initiated, I'll try to explain as best as I understand it.

An impeachment inquiry (?) or the impeachment process gives Congress unique powers within the judicial branch. It could fast-track court cases, compel testimony, force subpoenas, and expedite investigations. It would basically put all of Trump's wrongdoings on full display to the public. Notice I didn't say crimes.

So, that's the power of Congressional impeachment even if the Senate doesn't convict; it's a very powerful political tool as we run up to 2020. Trumpkins will have to relive every single impeachable offense that Trump has committed, and it will be brought into into the light of day on the national stage with new bits of information coming to light every_single_day.

I doubt our resident [deleted] will understand what any of that means because they're busy [deleted] on stormfront, or 4chan (holy “F” that's a cesspit), or whatever other forum that just tells them what they want to believe.
