I don't believing anyone would bet on the Senate voting to convict Trump with regard to impeachment, but you have to admit it was one of the most jaw-dropping, surprising votes the Senate voted 100-0 to release the whistleblower complaint. Sure it was nonbinding, still a huge turn of events from previous stonewalling. I don't really get why Mitch McConnell would lead a unanimous vote for Trump oversight. Is he playing politics? Trying to get ahead of something the public doesn't know? Is the writing on the wall being seen, in a sense? I have no idea, but it was weird.
In case some of our more daft readers don't understand why an impeachment proceeding has been initiated, I'll try to explain as best as I understand it.
An impeachment inquiry (?) or the impeachment process gives Congress unique powers within the judicial branch. It could fast-track court cases, compel testimony, force subpoenas, and expedite investigations. It would basically put all of Trump's
wrongdoings on full display to the public. Notice I didn't say crimes.
So, that's the power of Congressional impeachment even if the Senate doesn't convict; it's a very powerful political tool as we run up to 2020. Trumpkins will have to relive every single impeachable offense that Trump has committed, and it will be brought into into the light of day on the national stage with new bits of information coming to light every_single_day.
I doubt our resident
