I’m certain that I’d oppose any restriction on a fundamental right if its justification was that people like me, simply because I belonged to a particular group, were presumed to be less moral, less responsible, or more prone to criminality.

That’s what I’ve been asking about. Would you be comfortable if someone who held those views about your group used that same reasoning to justify restrictions on your rights?

They can believe any lie they want about me. But in my case the actual truth happens to be that I have nothing to hide, nor any reason not to obtain and present my ID. Do you want laws based on people’s feelings and perception of reality or laws based on the truth? The SAVE act is simply asking for voter ID. It doesn’t matter what religion, race, or even if you’re employed and paying taxes. Tell me what is so wrong with voter ID. What makes requiring voter ID equal to Jim Crow laws?

This seems like a shift from what you were saying earlier. Earlier you described “those people” as immoral, criminal, abusing welfare, and generally unfit. Now you’re saying it doesn’t matter what religion, race, or whether someone is employed or pays taxes. It seems like the camel’s nose under the tent. Backtrack to assure everyone that the rule is neutral, then later argue that certain groups are exactly the people the rule was meant to affect.

“I have nothing to hide” isn't a particularly persuasive argument to me. Throughout history, governments have justified expanding their authority with, “Just show me your papers.”

The question isn’t whether you have anything to hide, or have the actual truth, or even whether voter ID is “Jim Crow.” It’s whether fundamental rights should depend on government-issued credentials that can be expanded or manipulated by whoever happens to be in power.

You’ve argued that the Antichrist will someday require a form of ID to participate in society. How do you know the kind of voter ID law you’re advocating isn’t a step in that direction? Where is the line?

Very enlightening interview about Trump! Thanks for bringing it to our awareness. One of the many interesting speculations she brought out was the speculation that Trump is so narcissistic that he doesn't even really care about any potential successor, only about himself being somehow regarded as the best President in history, even if he is the last U.S. President before the final demise of this country. I don't think he even cares what happens to this country after he is dead, if only he can succeed in continuing his avaricious acquisition of more wealth and power without limit until the day he dies, even if that is what causes its final demise.
