He's getting significant backlash from his own party on the SAVE act (ironically named, like all his asshole-motivated legislation is) because they think the suggested ID restrictions will hurt their reelection chances more than Democrats. Remember, the GOP relies heavily on the uneducated (for obvious reasons), and those people are way less likely to have a birth certificate or a passport lying around than educated people, people more likely to vote Democrat.

If that doesn't reassure, I'll also say that his dad died with dementia at age 83 (Alzheimer's disease), and it's pretty clear Trump has dementia too, so hopefully, nature will take its course soon and save the world from this capricious, malignant asshole.

After a google search, it seems there are conflicting reports on his dad's age at death. Another source said he was 93.

I don't think they want to invest the effort to dig beneath the surface. Most that I see are simply willing to follow.

I think he'll get it (or some version of it) rammed through. The primaries showed that while MAGA is a minority, they are still the majority of the Republican party. Any Republicans with ethics and morals won't survive. If you want to be a Republican politician and remain in power (as a Republican), you have to jettison all of your conservative values and embrace the yam-titted god-emperor.

Fealty to Trump is currently the only metric by which a Republica politician can claim to be a Republican, and survive as a Republican.
