Lol...you are indeed, again, being a apologist for Stalin, like Gad was that started this current rabbit trail.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 5:10 pmYes. That’s what I said.
Edit, before Markk misunderstands further. The statement wasn’t meant to be taken literally. When I said, ‘Stalin was an amateur compared to what Hitler was actually doing and going to do,’ I was using a rhetorical device called hyperbole. Hyperbole is when you intentionally exaggerate something to make a point more forcefully.
I wasn’t claiming Stalin was literally an amateur. I know full well he was responsible for mass killings and brutal oppression. That’s a historical fact.
What I was doing was using deliberate exaggeration to emphasize the scale of what Hitler was already doing and especially what he planned to do if he had won the war. Hitler had genocidal plans for entire ethnic groups way beyond what most people understand. He had plans for the ‘lesser races’ once he had achieved global dominion. This earth was not for them to inherit.
So the phrase “Stalin was an amateur” wasn’t a factual comparison, it was a figure of speech to underline how far-reaching and catastrophic Hitler’s goals were. That’s what hyperbole does: it amplifies an idea for emphasis, not precision.

You are defending Stalin right?
Now go back and see what you responded to Gad about....it is the same thing.

How in the world did you come to that conclusion?

I am using the same logic that Gad and others used on this thread.

You’re relying on another man’s logic to misunderstand hyperbole, and then make an untrue assertion about my opinion re: Stalin? If you’d like to know my opinion about Stalin all you have to do is ask me.

Their logic, which you were opining to, is that if one brings up a truth against the Nazis or Hitler, that is not tied up with the accepted bow, then that person is a Nazi apologist....which folks here have done with Cooper, and myself. I in turn did the same thing to you, only with Stalin.
Of course you know that Stalin was one of the most evil persons to ever live, and of course Cooper knows that also in regard to Hitler. Me calling you a Stalin apologist is the exact same thing as Gad and others calling Cooper, and myself, a Hitler apologist.

Re: WW2 politics, and leading up to the War and beyond...
I’m well aware of how this thread has developed. And no, what you’re claiming you did doesn’t compare. If I were making excuses for Stalin, like you’ve done with Hitler and the Nazis via your proxy Cooper (and Carlson), then you would be accurate. And now you’re introducing an additional whatabout by bringing Mao into the mix. What you’re doing is downplaying the sheer scale of fascist action and intent via apologetics. It’d be akin to explaining away Japan’s Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity plan that ‘somehow’ didn’t mean to kill 15M Chinese, not acknowledging Japan’s version of Lebensraum, and the eventual depopulation of China, Manchuria, and eventually India.
This whole thread is confirming a pet theory of mine that the White Christian Nationalists are just the KKK repackaged, hence their low-key admiration of the Nazis and by extension their fascination with authoritarianism. This is why you always see these yahoos marching around with the Nazi and Confederate flags together.
Markk. You’re driving down a narrow road with not much room to turn around. I’d recommend you get away from that movement as fast as you can. No good comes from it.

Re: WW2 politics, and leading up to the War and beyond...
I keep trying to find this out, Markk, but can’t get a straight answer:
What truth —that’s not “tied up with the accepted bow” — is Cooper advancing?
In the things he says that you accept, I don’t see that he’s presenting anything different from the mainstream. The reason that folks call Cooper a Nazi apologist is because he says dumbass things like that Churchill was the villain of WWII. But that’s not the truth you’re referring to—because you don’t agree with that.
When I asked this earlier, you finally acknowledged that Cooper had nothing unique to contribute. Now you seem to be saying that he (and you) have some special truth that others are not willing to accept.
For a while, you said this truth was that Cooper said the Nazis were unprepared and people here disagreed. When I asked you to show me who it was who claimed that the Nazis were not unprepared, you couldn't name anyone. So it’s not that.
Again, what is Cooper’s truth that nobody here but you accepts--the one that gets you both called Nazi apologists? Please lay it out for everyone.

You are mistaken, I can and have showed you where people say or imply that Hitler/Germany was indeed prepared. Read what Gad just wrote. Why don't you ask Gad what he thinks?
And people (media hacks) say that Cooper is a Nazi apologists, because of what he said about Churchill, which is what Gad implied out of no where from what I said here...
Markk: "One thing I think we often look over about the Russian/German war, I know I do, is that while German fascism was a horrible thing to align with, Russian communism and what occurred in the purges and starving and torturing of peasants, farmers, and Christians in the late 20's and 30's....they felt it was a better option..."

And as a reminder....this is what some members of Congress signed on to...
Do you agree with this statement?Statement from Jewish Members of the House of Representatives Regarding Interview Between Tucker Carlson and Nazi Apologist Darryl Cooper
September 9, 2024
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner, Jerrold Nadler, Brad Schneider, Jan Schakowsky, Jamie Raskin, Jake Auchincloss, Becca Balint, Suzanne Bonamici, Steve Cohen, Lois Frankel, Daniel Goldman, Josh Gottheimer, Sara Jacobs, Greg Landsman, Mike Levin, Kathy Manning, Jared Moskowitz, Dean Phillips, Adam Schiff, Kim Schrier, Brad Sherman, Elissa Slotkin, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Susan Wild issued the following joint statement in response to an interview between Tucker Carlson and Nazi apologist Darryl Cooper:
“As Jewish Members of Congress, we are appalled that Tucker Carlson hosted and promoted Nazi apologist and Holocaust denier Darryl Cooper on his podcast. Cooper made deeply troubling statements, including that the United States was on the ‘wrong side’ in the Second World War, and falsely claiming that millions of Jews in concentration camps 'ended up dead' only because the Nazis did not have the resources to care for them. Not only did Carlson provide a platform for Cooper’s ignorance and hate to millions of viewers, he also promoted Cooper by calling him ‘the most important popular historian in the United States.’
“This revisionist and morally repugnant retelling of history is an insult to the six million Jews who were methodically murdered at the hands of the Nazi regime and is especially dangerous now as antisemitism is on the rise globally.
“It is also concerning that Elon Musk called the discussion ‘very interesting’ in a post on his platform X, and Republican Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance refused to condemn Carlson for promoting Cooper when given the opportunity to do so. Acceptance of hateful ideologies by people in power puts Jews and other targeted minorities across the world at great risk.
“The normalization of Nazism is unacceptable and dangerous, and must be forcefully condemned. Americans deserve to know that their leaders will rebuke the cancers of antisemitism and Nazism whenever and wherever they appear.”
