Any chance that Putin and Trump will join forces to nuke Kyiv and California?

From UK Ministry of Defence - the Moskva was not just there to look impressive.

Its loss is a lot more than a matter of prestige. This was an important command and air defence asset. And now it's gone:

It's my impression that the Russians were contemplating an amphibious landing near Odessa, because the Russians would very much like to take all of Ukraine's Black Sea coastline and Odessa is the biggest remaining obstacle to doing so. Russian land-based troops didn't make it far enough west to support such a landing, and the Ukrainians have fortified the hell out of the city in the meantime (that's presumably what the sandbags in Jersey Girl's drum cover video were for), so an attack on Odessa was looking increasingly unlikely. My understanding, from what I've been reading, is that if there had been such a landing, the firepower from the Moskva would have been needed to cover the Russian troops. Before the Moskva sank, an amphibious landing was a remote possibility; now it's practically impossible.

This is so powerful. Ben Ferencz, at 102 years old, has got his thumb squarely on the pulse of the war in Ukraine. Run time is 9+ minutes.

I've never seen anything like this used in war. Ukraine is using advanced (?) facial recognition technology donated by the U.S. company Clearview AI to capture photos of dead Russian soldiers, identifying them by matching them up to social media posts and I guess other sources online, and posting them for their mothers to see. Using this to combat Russian propaganda. Also using it to the benefit of refugees who fled without identification documents and identify Russian soldier who engaged in looting and possibly additional war crimes.

I don't think I have the smarts to describe it further.

It's fascinating. Take a look if you will.

Video runs 14 minutes and change.

I think Putin is holding off his official endorsement of Tucker Carlson until Donald Trump announces he will not run again in 2024.

What does anyone think John Kirby means right here??? Is he talking about the MiG-29's???? Drones??? If you are increasing your air fleet size, doesn't that mean that you are adding aircraft?? Do they already have aircraft that need the parts and platforms??

Time stamped.

I was just thinking about that interview with Biden from 2018 that Honor provided a few pages back.

So, today on my walk, my right-wing friend in the company of myself and another guy who like me is only temporarily Democrat, recounted a run-in he had the other day with some Ukrainians and another party. The other party is a devout Democrat and made the mistake of saying something about Trump not helping the situation there when he was president. That was a mistake. For one, it's pretty messed up to use someone's legitimate tragedy abroad as your opportunity to run your mouth on domestic politics in a situation like that where folks are, you know, just out for a walk. It was also a mistake to say that in front of my right-wing friend who lives his life in state of political panic. In background and temperament he's much like A-Mike or Markk on this board. So my right-wing friend per his account, went off on Joe Biden as the worst president we've ever had, a man with blood on his hands for what he's done with Ukraine, utterly inept and so-on. He knows he's not supposed to push politics with me, and so he used his story of what he said in this account as a way to blast Biden in front of me without breaking the agreement. He's not blasting Biden to me, he's recounting how he blasted Biden to this other person. He's so tricky.

Anyway, I mostly just listened and blew it off while the other guy came back to him pretty strongly and I kind of distanced myself. When that guy left, we continued on as if nothing happened.

So here's what I'm thinking of doing. I'm thinking of taking a section of Biden's interview from 2018 and replacing Biden's name with some other name, and sending it to him via email. I'd put a quick summary, and that's all. I've never sent him anything political before, but on occasion, I've sent him information on something or another he's interested in and he'll kinda read it. I'd say it's a republican Colonel or something. Any guesses on what his reaction will be? It's a test on a lot of levels, will he be suspicious and look it up since it's me and not one of his comrades sending the info? I'd be impressed if he did, actually. Will he agree? disagree?
