Of course I’ve given thought to whether the threat is exaggerated. I’ve also given thought to whether the threat is understated.

This is what I think. The smart folks who are trained and experienced at threat assessment underestimated the threat from 1/6. We were lucky. There were some sophisticated players involved. Pipe bombs planted to draw security away from the Capitol. Folks equipped with radios, firearms, tactical gear, zip ties, etc. We know there are militia and other groups who believe it is their duty as Patriots to violently resist or overthrow Biden’s presidency. We would be complete morons not to take the threat of ongoing violence seriously.

My state is home to many anti-government militia style groups. Our legislature went into session today, and our governor activated the Guard last week. Given what occurred last week and the threats made on social media for additional violence, I think stepped up security is entirely warranted.

The FBI issued a warning of additional violence to all 50 states today. That, plus the other circumstantial evidence warrants the level of concern I’m seeing.

I don’t know what to make of Trump’s comment on not attending the inauguration. I’m inclined to pass it off as sore loserman pouting. But he has an army of followers who live to follow breadcrumbs, connect the dots, and decipher meanings. And I have no doubt that many of his hundreds of thousands (millions?) of conspiracy theorist followers understood that as a hidden message that they could attack the inauguration without fear of harming Trump.

Lastly, a am continually amazed at your persistent misrepresentation of what I say. First off, I reject the notion that anything that has happened is a free speech issue. What would make free speech relevant would be for the government to require Twitter or Facebook to host speech that they believe violates their TOS. Free speech does not include the right to force other citizens to amplify your speech.

I don’t accept your use of the loaded word “cancel” as a fair description of what happened to Parler. This is exactly how markets are supposed to work. This is exactly how under market theory, unacceptable behavior is driven out by market participants. Nobody should be forced to do business with a company that enables sedition.

If Amazon, Google or Apple are guilty of breach of contract, Parler’s remedy lies in breach of contract. And if it can prove the elements, then it should recover damages.

What I don’t favor, and have never favored, is using the coercive force of government to shut Parler down.

As far as Newsmax goes, are they breaking any laws? If not, there is no government role. Do I, as a citizen and consumers have the right to contact Newsmax’s advertisers and let them know I will not buy their product or use their service as long as they continue to advertise there? Absolutely. That’s how the market works, baby. That’s my freedom of speech and association at work.

Now where, exactly, in all that am I favoring more free speech restrictions?

Get off your fainting couch. The Daily Wire website is up and running, so you should have no trouble linking to the source. No tech giant has suppressed the site. You are free to provide a source for your whataboutism.

How was Parler ‘canceled’? The cloud service provider that they were doing business with decided that they didn’t want to be associated with Parler.

Parler is financed by several very wealthy backers. If they want to run a business, perhaps they can consider creating some of their own infrastructure, rather than choosing to depend on someone else’s servers.

Yes, because Trump inciting his followers is exactly the same as George Soros drinks the blood of babies to prolong his life.

On the other hand, if one claimed that Trump had arranged with with militia groups for an attacking for security to stand down, and that his statement was the agreed on code word for "kill them all," you'd be getting into QAnon territory. Oh, and somebody drinking baby blood. Take your pick.

You may have been experiencing an insomnia-induced walking dream state when you thought that you heard this. Do you remember her also admitting to drinking blood to stave off aging?

It's kind of sad and hilarious how many people think free speech means they should be able to say whatever they want wherever they want without restriction. By their logic, I should be able to walk into their house, tell them their kids look like pigs, maybe even brandish a knife and threaten to stab them, and not get shot, because free speech.

Before Twitter was invented, you couldn't post on Twitter. That was not suppression of free speech. The service didn't exist, so you couldn't be served. Just because you're used to being served now doesn't mean that service is your constitutionally granted right all of a sudden. Twitter isn't cited in the Constitution.

I really don't think much of American's standard of education.
