President Trump admitted Monday that he is at least partially to blame for what transpired at the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday.
That's according to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who spoke with the president on Monday and later conveyed Mr. Trump's feelings to fellow House Republicans.
Multiple Republicans familiar with the exchanges confirmed the details to CBS News.
The call between the president and top House Republican came on the same day Mr. Trump met face-to-face in the Oval Office with Vice President Pence for the first time since the deadly siege, during which protesters were heard chanting, "Hang Mike Pence!"
The outreach to senior Republicans comes as the House is set to vote Tuesday on a resolution calling on Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment with Cabinet secretaries to remove the president from office. If Pence and the Cabinet do not do so, the House is expected to vote Wednesday on an article of impeachment against Mr. Trump, holding him responsible for inciting the mob that assaulted the Capitol, leaving five people dead.
While many congressional Republicans have voiced opposition to impeaching Mr. Trump for a second time, including McCarthy, a handful of Republican senators have signaled they are open to impeachment charges or have called on the president to resign before his term expires on January 20.

I, for one, will not ignore or forget the role of religion, especially Evangelical Christianity, in creating and sustaining the lies and hate that led to January 6.
From the New York Times on January 11th, 2021.
From the New York Times on January 11th, 2021.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/11/us/h ... e=HomepageWASHINGTON — Before self-proclaimed members of the far-right group the Proud Boys marched toward the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, they stopped to kneel in the street and prayed in the name of Jesus.
The group, whose participants have espoused misogynistic and anti-immigrant views, prayed for God to bring “reformation and revival.” They gave thanks for “the wonderful nation we’ve all been blessed to be in.” They asked God for the restoration of their “value systems,” and for the “courage and strength to both represent you and represent our culture well.” And they invoked the divine protection for what was to come.
Then they rose. Their leader declared into a bullhorn that the media must “get the hell out of my way.” And then they moved toward the Capitol.

If you're willing to believe there's an invisible super magician in the sky listening to you murmur out requests, it isn't so much of a stretch believing other outrageous nonsense, like Trump is great.
There's no question that idiotic religion is to blame. Believing damned nonsense is a national pastime.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

Other religious groups should get to claim their share of ignominy as well. Captain Moroni should not go unnoticed, nor the returned missionary who climbed into the House Speaker's seat and spouted sedition.

That is definitely what the meme image is meant to covey. The question is, is Shades in agreement with that intended message of this meme, or is he so unperceptive as to miss it's intended message. In any case he is likely to deny that that is the intended message of the meme.Chap wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 11:53 amWill someone kindly explain what Shades is up to here?Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:34 amFolks, all is not lost. Both sides indeed CAN find common ground with each other:
We have a picture of someone taking part in a violent irruption into the Capitol, which might have resulted (had some of the insurgents had their way) in the murder of the Vice-President), and in the course of which a police officer was killed by the mob.
Shades sends us a doctored version of the picture, intended so far as one can judge to get us thinking. "Hey, that mob really did break into the Capitol and kill a police officer (etc. etc.). But what about Biden being said to bit a bit too touchy-feely, hey? Bet you don't want to talk about that, libtards?"
Or is there some other reason for him posting this picture?

Here's Trump walking to board Marine One on his way to Texas on Tuesday morning.
Is that a new expression he is wearing in that photo? I'd say it looks a bit like fear ...

I’m a little more concerned with the current President molesting truth and democracy than I am with the next President supposedly sniffing someone’s hair.Nomomo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 3:36 pmThat is definitely what the meme image is meant to covey. You are correct. Let me explain the most likely scenario for this to happen, as it won't be easy, as you are essentially asking round and flat earthers to understand each other.Shades wrote:Folks, all is not lost. Both sides indeed CAN find common ground with each other:
Whatever the faults of Democrats, in the present crises, it's the Republicans who are 100% at fault, there is question here. You have a president trying to take over the country by any means necessary. You have a Republican body of government who have been willing to roll the dice and allow him to stir up the mob because they need the unity of the right to stay in power. If that means lying about elections and so on, then so be it. They are betting that they can play it either way: if the revolution comes, they'd prefer more control over Trump, but they'd rather take their chances with him as dictator than their chances with a tremendous loss of power and a divided party underneath a growing blue wave.
Last week made some of the Reps think twice. But, most of them are betting with the additional security, all will be well, and they can continue to use the rhetorical outrage of the mob to empower their party. No, they don't believe the election was stolen, but they'll allow the masses to rally behind it for their own benefits, so that after the transition, they will be in the good graces of the growing mob. They can't risk impeachment and so on, for this reason. I give them 90% odds that they are right.
The only real chance at unity is for some bets about security to be wrong, and for the militias to actually get through security and start killing politicians, because the mob won't be able to pick out just Democrats, and even if they could, the violence will be amateur, and they will kill each other and their own politicians as well as they will Democrats. Once Republican officials begin dying, the chances of unity will greatly improve.
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

By the way, Ajax and subs are Marxists, because it's the heart of Marxism that history repeats itself (1776!).
