Before I posted here, I had a look around. There were quite a few posts boasting about what an open, free place this was, and if more Mormons don't post here it must be because they are terrified. Now that a few of us are, we keep getting you telling us to go away and Scratch demanding to know what we are doing here, which really amounts to the same thing.

If you want a protected forum where you can say anything, however vile, and no decent person is allowed to take issue with you, then Scumbag Central, a.k.a. Ranting fanatical Maniacs, a.k.a. RfM, is still there.

But until Shades and/or Keene tells us we're not wanted here, you'd better get used to us being around.

Now is there something you'd actually like to discuss, or would you prefer to just vent some more?

You might indeed. No honest person equates praying to God and receiving a visitation from an angel with "necromancy," but you might.

More importantly, no Latter-day Saint views it as such, either.

Thus, it was egregiously disingenuous of you to draw an intentionally false and inflammatory conclusion from Joseph's religious activities; and it was even more disingenuous of you to brazenly claim that it is we who "accept Joseph as a necromancer."

We accept nothing of the sort.

Y'know Ajax, it's a fairly trivial exercise to point out "similarities" between any two groups. It is equally easy to point out differences between them. If you want the comparisons to be in any way useful, you need to come up with some kind of robust methodology for weighing up similarities and differences and determining how they are significant.

Note, please, that the "similarities" you have described here are not actual similarities between the two groups, but rather similarities in your perception.

You need to control for bias as well.
