Ex-LDS What one issue....
made you lose faith in your former church? One issue...not a list....just one issue that started your journey out of the church.

Well, as long as this poll is not "creepy", I will respond.
For me it was more complicated and that's probably the case for most.
The realization that Joseph Smith did not translate jack squat from the papyrus brought me to the further realization that he was a complete fraud. If he lied about translating one thing then why not every thing else that he touched?

Porter,
This isn't a "poll". It's an inquiry. I think you're referring to the Book of Abraham. Fair enough.

The utter failure of revelation - both on a personal level, and an LDS historical level.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Mormon culture versus Mormon doctrine. Being told that I "had" to do something, when it wasn't even in the freakin canon, it was just something some dead GA said.
If you can't stick with the scriptures, then there's a problem. I have the same stance as a mainstream Christian. Picketing marines' funerals in protest of homosexuality, because "God said so" is hardly sticking to what the Bible says about respect for other human beings and their dead.
[Insert TBM rant about the awful God of the Old Testament]

Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances. -Ghandi

You can dish out the ill feelings to posters, but cannot take it?
