Episode 2.2 thoughts
Another solid episode.....this season is definitely building toward the polygamy thing being thrown completely out in the open. This season really is showing the rigors of keeping polygamy secret/trying to balance normal marriage with other people involved. It's quite stirring really.
Other thoughts:
1) Over/under 5 episodes before Alby is driving to Mexico for a gigolo? (evidence: Tainted Love, looking at the man candy at the Sheriffs Office, his aborted pickup last season)
2) Margene is still a hottie, but totally clueless
3) Nicki is still a hottie, but that is completely overblown by her total sadistic, lying, bitchy act
4) Over/under on the son and the youngest wife getting down and dirty (2 episodes)
5) They listen to the worst music (damn will someone buy these people a Led Zeppelin album already, geez)
6) Anyone have a WTF? moment when Nicki made that speech where she wondered if love was enough for a marriage/the holy covenant of plural marriage.
7) Who thinks Bill should cut all ties with those wackjobs at the compound?
8) No Nudity!!!! Will someone get Bill laid already.

I love Big Love. I love how every tiny detail is absolutely dead on. I love the use of actual Utah locations (I have to yell out "Utah" and "California" now to make sure everyone I'm watching with knows exactly where the scene was shot), I love all the actors, the writing and the plot.
I love that I also have a secret insider close to the production.
I even love Alby. In an ooky way.

I don't know if you're watching the current season now, or waiting for the DVD...so I won't spoil anything. I just wanted to mention that there was a great scene with Alby in last night's episode.
I still have a problem with some of the dialogue in the show. There are instances where they use the word testimony when they should be saying revelation. For example, Bill Paxton often says that he recieved testimony that plural marriage was right. He should say, I recieved a revelation about plural marriage or I gained a testimony about plural marriage. In the season 2 premiere, Bill Paxton refers to the celestial kingdom as celestial heaven. Yes, these are nitpicks and would not bother most viewers. I think the writers could use a good exmormon to help them with some of these intricasies.

ok that's fair...I also remember Bill saying "lay a blessing" rather than "give a blessing," too. But I think that the writers, or some of them, are exmos. The small "inaccuracies" could be on purpose to "fictionalize" things a bit (keeping with the whole "they're not really Mormons" explanation for hostile LDS audiences, while the rest of us know damn well that's exactly what they are and meant to be).
Or they could be plain old mistakes...
I'm watching it current on HBO. I got HBO just for Big Love.

Bond beat me to it. This is what I was referring to about Alby.

This makes sense. So far, I am really enjoying this season.

Ditto on the Neko Case.
'Specially loved the line: "Remember in Sunday school when they told us our parents would rather see us come home in a pine box rather than lose our chastity?"
(I may have misquoted it slightly, but still "nice" to hear this old chestnut.)

And how.....Alby being ostacized by the family certainly sounds familiar to Mormon culture.
1) Does anyone still get weirded out when they say sister wives? Or go help your mothers?
2) Alright is anyone thinking the blonde daughter is totally hooking up with the exmormon guy in the near future, thus making her a hypocrite for her speech to Ben?
3) Roman's wife is awesome (she taught that sack of potatoes who was boss didn't she?)
4) Rhonda is nothing but trouble.....dump her on the street!!
5) Alright so Bill's getting into gambling machines, who saw that coming (and who thinks they're going to Vegas at some point)?
6) Anyone realizing that there is no plot going on with Barb's youngest daughter.....how long until she goes to summer camp for 3 seasons?
7) Alby/Nicki/Roman/Bill/all the wives.....it's going to get worse before it gets better
8) Nudity!!! Sure it was Bill's Aunt---but she was like 26 or so. Totally hot! They can keep Bill's ass hidden for the next couple episodes, I'm good.
9) Anyone think that was awesome when Roman's bossy wife was explaining how Alby is his own great uncle and she's her own step grandmother?

Good point. I hope they keep her out of the plot for a while. I think the older siblings are more interesting. I especially enjoyed the Straight Edge subplot.

Yes...3 episodes in and we finally get some boobs. I have a feeling we'll be seeing Bill's ass sooner rather than later. Get the shot glasses ready. ;)

LOL! This was the funniest part of the episode.

I told my mom about this line after the show. She totally remembered being taught that and told me that it made her really uncomfortable/upset at the time.
