Someone needs to go on and talk about their problems with polygamy - and ask them about Joseph Smith marrying teenagers (14, 16, etc.). Ask them about Joseph Smith marrying other mens wives. Ask them about his lying to emma.

I'm curious to hear what they'd have to say - if they've even heard of this.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better.....I just had one of the chatting missionaries tell me "Take my godless questions and go away cause the Book of Mormon is true". Yes I'm laughing as I write this.

What questions do you supposed I asked....well I started with my old standby "Where is Zarahelma"......he of course didn't know, but the Book of Mormon is true.

I then asked for a generalized area.....he said Brazil or somewhere near Brazil......I then asked him how this meshed with LDS apologetic arguments that its probably in MesoAmerica somewhere.....he didn't know but he knew the Book of Mormon was true.

I then asked about the Hill Cumorah......he didn't know where it was (but the Book of Mormon was true).....I asked if the NY Hill Cumorah was correct considering Joseph Smith supposedly found the Gold Plates there......he didn't know (but the Book of Mormon was true).

He then proceeded to bear his testimony.....I told him that didn't help me much in locationg Zarahelma. He bore his testimony again.....I bore my testimony that the Book of Mormon was false......at which point he told me to take my questions and go away (cause the Book of Mormon is true).

Thank you PP. This chat thing made my day.

He didn't link you to that John Sorenson article, "Digging....etc"? I think that's their "go to" link.

Download Screenshot pilot (http://www.download.com/Screenshot-Pilot/3000-2094_4-10343204.html?tag=lst-0-1), which is a pretty cool program that takes snapshots of whatever is on your screen at the time.

I noticed that the chat box comes with a disclaimer that what you're about to hear is not an official statement from the Church.

So let's see. An official website from the Church offers unofficial answers.

Gotcha!

Okay I got a wackjob on line 3 who agrees with polygamy....I may type out the whole thing.

I had some downtime, so I figured i'd give it a go.

CHAPEL Mormon ALERT!

i told the guy i had some questions about polygamy and the temple, and that my Mormon friend told me not to trust any internet sites except fairlds.org and farms. I asked the guy if those were good sites to research my questions. he said (paraphrasing) "i would only recommend LDS.org and Mormon.org - i haven't heard of those other sites, and whatever they are, they are not written by the church."

So then he wanted to know what my questions were. I told him i had questions about the temple ceremonies, but that i didn't think he would talk about it, and that my friend wouldn't, but had referred me to those websites. He asked what my questions were anyways. So i told him i wanted to know why the LDS temple ceremonies had some similarities to the masonic ceremonies, and how i found it troubling that Joseph Smith was a mason, and how i found it troubling that some of the masonic like parts had been removed from the temple. predictably, he cut me off, and said 'we can't talk about that'. i said 'well, yeah, that's what i said, that's why i asked about those other internet site.

then i asked about polygamy, and why Joseph Smith would tell joseph smith to marry young girls and other mens wives. Predictably, he said (paraphrasing) "we don't know why god told the early leaders to practice polygamy, but we do know that there were a lot of widows that didn't have husbands to take care of them." Then he asked me "where did you hear about joseph smith marrying other mens wives - i don't think that's true".

ROTFLMAO. The rest was pretty boring. he quoted me some scriptures, asked me to pray about the Book of Mormon, etc. blah blah blah.

Pretty damn funny. The canned answers took me back to my mission days.

I typed that real quick before heading out. I forgot the funniest part.

Follow the brilliant logic...

We were talking about polygamy, and the guy said "sometimes god asks us to do things we don't understand. If god asked you to do something, would you do it?" And I said, "depends; i wouldn't kill someone." So then he says "do you know the story of abraham in the Bible? God asked him to kill his son". And I said "well, lots of people have killed other people in the name of god, how do we know if it's god telling us?" And he says "god wouldn't tell us to do something bad." And then he immediately started to bear his testimony.

Gotta love it.

Thanks for the compliment pill boy.

My hand is not tired as I have my wife do the work.

Porter,

No one would touch you with a 10 foot pole unless you paid them. Your whole personality would attract only harlots. I don't believe anyone would stay married to you, let alone marry you. You're gross, man. Get your own bottle of pills - I'm not sharing mine with you.

Do you take showers? I was just wondering.

Ah, Dan P doesn't approve of the harmless little prank 'calls'. Apparently he feels that signing up on other message boards under anonymous pseudonyms just to ruffle feathers is sooo much more noble.

He should actually appreciate this free research - as I believe he's in favor of providing missionaries with some 'anti-mormon' training. Now he can get a feel for what they honestly do and don't know.

You're welcome!
