I hope y'all have some great plans for tonight.
My family started our holiday early. Yesterday Tom closed the office around noon and joined the girls and me at the swimming pool. Later, we picked up a couple of the girls' friends and took everyone out to our favorite Mexican restaurant and then, after dark, we set off fireworks with several of our neighbors.
This morning, we awakened to see that all the houses in the neighborhood have flags placed in the front yard. We always keep one up, but it's nice to see the neighborhood looking so patriotic! We're leaving now to go meet my sister and her family for a BBQ. Later, we're going to a baseball game. After the game, there will be fireworks. Baseball, beer and fireworks - I can't think of a better way to spend the Fourth of July.
May everyone's day be lovely,
KA
Happy Independance Day, America!

I celebrated our independence by getting together with 5 friends in the afternoon and playing an 8 hour space empire-building game called Twilight Imperium. Ironically I ran a group most like fascist oppressors/Borg and won by a hair in the end. Then I drove home and timed it so the fireworks show would be in front of me the whole trip. Good times. Great day. Thank you America.

Was it 2nd or 3rd Edition?
I own the 2nd Edition, but I've only played it once--as a 2-player game.

3rd edition. 2nd was okay but it led to turtling (grabbing a section of space and fortifying it forever) in larger games.
Plus the pieces are nicer. We're talking about putting together another game on Saturday though I'm not holding my breath. The married guys in the group have a hard time justifying to their wives 8-10 hour time blocks away.
