Lost another old friend.

That smiling soldier with the glasses you see through out was a man I knew that died reciently in an IED attack outside of Bagdad. A friend of mine made this compilation video of him playing with Iraqi kids. SSgt Henshaw was the kind of man that always kept a pocketful of pogey bait (candy) or carried a couple of stuffed animals to give to the kids he meet on a patrol. He always seemed like the kind of man that should have been back home teaching a class of kindergarderners or helping children. I went to high school with him, served for four years in the Marines with him as well. He left the Corps and went on to be a Reservist with the US Army Reserves.

I'll miss this Soldier.

Sorry to hear it. Men like that make it possible for me to enjoy all my freedoms, and to be able to be there and still show kindness to those people makes him stand out all the more.

My prayers go out to you and your friend's family, Coffee. I still don't understand what we are sacrificing these good men and women for, but I respect the honor they represent. I hope that someday soon we can find some solution to the mess we're in, minus our infantile president. I tend not to be one to condemn others to hell, but that man is one for whom I wish eternal torment.

I am sorry for your loss. I hate every death of every military person. I fret awfully about my boy, a Marine corporal, who is headed for his second tour in Iraq this September.

I won't make this a political thread but your comments about President Bush are shameful, and I am not a big fan of him either.

I hope you don't really feel that way. Wishing hell on anyone is twisted.

I'm proud of at least one thing the President has done:

(that's my father accepting the National Medal of Technology from President Bush on 2/13/06).
