Congrats on the new baby and the ones preceeding. :-)
Personal question, you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but I'm really scared about this now that I've had a spinal tap. Have you had an epidural? Do they really hurt, or are you in so much pain while in labor you don't really notice? Because I was hollering when they stuck that needle in my back, and I'm not sure I can go through that again.
I had an epidural with one of my babies and I wanted to hug the anesthesiologist afterward. He was my hero at that moment of agony. I didn't think the shot in my back hurt much at all. They sprayed some really cold stuff on the entry site which felt weird. The most difficult part of the epidural is that you must stay very still while they are doing it. It's not a super quick process and I did not think it was possible for me to stay still when the contractions came. Luckily, I was somehow able to do it. I was so afraid of becoming paralyed that I didn't move through the hard contractions.
I was induced very early with my first baby and when you are given artificial labor it so much more painful than natural. I was in such misery that the pain of the needle was nothing. The only thing I didn't like was a little shock I felt when he first went in. It took him 3 times to get it right. I guess if you feel that shock it's not good. The only part of the epidural that I hated was the reaction I had from the medicine. I did a "walking epidural" where they only give you half the dose so you can still feel your legs but the pain is gone in your uterus. I am sensitive to medicine and even with the half dose, I began shaking and chattering my teeth for almost 2 hours. I could barely talk. I wasn't cold, but I had no control over the chattering of my teeth. Each time I sat up in bed I felt like I would pass out. That is why I have done the other babies without drugs. I like to feel in control of my body.
They also put a catheter in my back to give more medicine if needed. You feel them stitching it with thread or something like that but it doesn't hurt. (if your labors are short then they can give you a spinal shot which doesn't need a catheter) The spot where I had the catheter was a little sore for many months after giving birth. I hear that's a common side effect.
I don't want to scare you away from having one because most girls have great experiences with epidurals.

If you choose Daria, she'll already have a song written about her. See Cake's album, Fashion Nugget.

If that were to happen this time just yell, "THAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR damned GRANDDAUGHTER YOU INCONSIDERATE PRICK!!!!! I'M LAYING RIGHT HERE AND I JUST crap A 7 POUND SQUIRMING BUNDLE OF LIFE OUT OF A HOLE THAT'S BEEN STRETCHED MANY TIMES IT'S NORMAL SIZE!!!! LAY DOWN AND CRAP A SEVEN POUND TURD THAT YOU'VE BEEN FERMENTING FOR THE PAST 9 MONTHS!!!!! IF YOU CAN'T THEN SIT DOWN AND SHUT THE “F” UP!!!!!"
Then blame it on the epideral.
ROTFL!!! Make that a 9 pound turd! The most awful part was he was looking right at our newborn baby for the first time while she was being weighed when he said it. I was still in labor delivering the afterbrith and I could hear him and my MIL whispering about the name. I didn't have any medicine with her birth so here I was all alone in horrible pain hearing this and hadn't even held my baby yet. ALL ON VIDEO. I heard my husband say "be careful what you say Dad.." Sometimes my MIL will mispronounce her name even now, I believe intentionally. Have you seen the MIL on the show "Everybody loves Raymond?" That's exactly like my MIL.

Assholes. You know the difference between real life and TV? In real life you can tell them to either show respect to you and your child by pronouncing her name correctly, or you won't come and visit very much. Better yet, tell them you'll put them in that bad old folks home you saw on 60 Minutes. Or start pronouncing their names wrong.
(You wonder why I'm not married....)

Don't name your child after a bit character from Beavis & Butthead that got a spin off show... Poor girl won't be able to step three feet into a class room without a couple of slack wits saying "diareah, cha cha cha".
Bond, damned fine rant there, man. That was a text book example of proper usage of dirty four letter words. Now, I'm all out of gold stars, so you'll just have to settle for a "well done".
What first letter do you need and how many syllables? I can rattle off children's names in my sleep, and I probably do!
Here's some:
Dacia (pronounced Day-sha)
Raegan
Kadence
Hannah
Kayleigh
Maxine
Kaylee
Madison
Kinsey
Savannah
Emma
Elizabeth
Cerenity (Serenity)
Rose
Halle (Hal-ee)
Addison

I know of someone who named her daughter "Chlamydia." No joke. She thought it sounded pretty and had no idea it was a VD. My friend had to be the one to break it to her. I guess they could call her Lydia until she can change her name.
This same friend also knows somebody named Phat Ho. (she works with inner city kids)
