I'm an introvert and there's no person on the face of the planet that'd describe me as "passive". Have you ever taken a Myers Briggs?
Yeah I'm somewhat passive. I probably shouldn't have used that word because I guess I gave off the impression that passive=introverted.
And I haven't had a Myers Briggs lately (like in the last few years)....but if you want to go by the wiki definition of someone who feels energized while alone....yeah that's me.

This comes straight off the MB Foundation website:
Introversion (I)
I like getting my energy from dealing with the ideas, pictures, memories, and reactions that are inside my head, in my inner world. I often prefer doing things alone or with one or two people I feel comfortable with. I take time to reflect so that I have a clear idea of what I’ll be doing when I decide to act. Ideas are almost solid things for me. Sometimes I like the idea of something better than the real thing.
The following statements generally apply to me:
* I am seen as “reflective” or “reserved.”
* I feel comfortable being alone and like things I can do on my own.
* I prefer to know just a few people well.
* I sometimes spend too much time reflecting and don’t move into action quickly enough.
* I sometimes forget to check with the outside world to see if my ideas really fit the experience.

Alright....I'm introverted. I guess there's probably a large correlation to being an "overthinker" and being introverted.

And this explains almost everything about my issues with the church.
"INTJs apply (often ruthlessly) the criterion "Does it work?" to everything from their own research efforts to the prevailing social norms. This in turn produces an unusual independence of mind, freeing the INTJ from the constraints of authority, convention, or sentiment for its own sake. "
Me to a "t" it would seem.
And Jersey Girl- we are close- but you're a feeler and I'm a thinker. :)

I did follow the links. I first wanted to practice law to champion women. I can't finish that dream right now and went into special education (education was listed as one of my professions) to give value and worth to children that others forget or wish did not exist.
This link explained my type, and it's me to a t. I was that kid that stood up for the bully victim and got the bejeezus beat out of her on a routine basis (all 5'1" of me) because the victim wouldn't stand up for herself. I find people think I'm a wacko because I do take the injustice of others as a personal affront... oh well. :)
Beneath the quiet exterior, INFJs hold deep convictions about the weightier matters of life. Those who are activists -- INFJs gravitate toward such a role -- are there for the cause, not for personal glory or political power.
INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ.
"There's something rotten in Denmark." Accurately suspicious about others' motives, INFJs are not easily led. These are the people that you can rarely fool any of the time. Though affable and sympathetic to most, INFJs are selective about their friends. Such a friendship is a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words.
INFJs have a knack for fluency in language and facility in communication. In addition, nonverbal sensitivity enables the INFJ to know and be known by others intimately.
Writing, counseling, public service and even politics are areas where INFJs frequently find their niche.
Bond...James Bond wrote:Recently Jason B. relayed a message from his daughter who said "You think too much!".
Jason seems to share a trait with me.....we ponder and nitpick stuff. We try to figure out things. Are you like this?
I sure as heck am......I've pondered and nitpicked myself outta organized religion, and I seem to be pondering and thinking myself into a state of doubt in everything. Are you like this?
Do you chew things over in your mind until everything is gone, including your saliva? I sure as heck am.....I get a bee in my bonnet about something and ponder it to death. To paraphrase Jason Bourne's daughter: I think too much! Are you like this?
Anyone got any ideas on how to stop being like this?
Bond, when I was younger I chewed things over quite a bit. The older I've gotten the more I've mellowed out and don't fret about things so much. If there is something that bothers me however I will dive head first and won't come up for air until I learn everything about it. I easily become obsessed about one subject and after satisfied will move on to another.
We read this book in my book club and you become a part of the color code cult after taking it. You look at others in a new light. I keep this book next to my Bible now and reference it when I need to forgive somebody.
