You and Scratch Junior will have to do it without me, I'm afraid.

I can't conceive of anything I could possibly say or do that would dissuade you from your baseless, obsessive, and malicious crusade, so there's no conceivable point in my devoting any more time or energy to the attempt. Anyway, I suspect that most people here can see this for what it really is.

Too bad you didn't take that stance when faced with the Quinn gossip-mill.

There's no "crusade." All of this has been based on your words.

Anyway, I suspect that most people here can see this for what it really is.

Agreed.

In much the same way that certain films are "based on" real historical events.

Agreed.

So perhaps you and Scratch Senior need to repeat yourselves a few hundred more times. (Several people here have told me by PM how very starved they are for further discussions of this epic and ever-fascinating tale.)

Have at it!

I actually brought in Krispy Kreme donuts to my class this morning! ;)

Yes, I told Dr. Peterson in a PM, we all need to take a break from the boards and read Harry Potter! LOL

I can't really take credit for it. It's a contribution from Shades.

But, as the politicians say, I'm Dan Peterson, and I approve this message.

It pretty well sums me up, I think, apart from the malicious gossip that seems to be my other great passion in life.

All we have to do is wait for your next (and inevitable) foot-in-mouth moment, my good man.

Nice avatar, by the way.

I can, and it goes like this: "I, Daniel C. Peterson, admit that I engaged in some unethical gossip about Mike Quinn and his sexuality. I blabbed about it on the FAIRmessageboard, and that was wrong. That was a private matter which should have been kept between the people directly involved, and their ecclesiastical leader. I am sorry, and I deeply regret having done this."

If you want to own up to this, and admit you did wrong, I'd be more than willing to drop the matter entirely.

He's saying that you didn't "check out" (as you appear to be doing now) when your "friend" was ratting on Quinn to you. Nor did you "check out" on the FAIR thread. Rather, you giddily leaped at the opportunity to smear a critic of the Church. You lapped up the malicious gossip like a starving kitten at a saucer of milk, and then you dispensed it to your fawning audience at FAIR.

In any case, I notice that you are dodging out right at the moment when it seems we've got you pinned against the wall. There is really no way I can fathom you wriggling out of your admission vis-a-vis the so-called "sad incident." Your "checking out" only underscores your guilt, imho.

Finally, I, too, like your avatar a great deal.

I don't.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Your mission expires when you die.

I don't recall any such conversation lasting even sixty seconds. I suppose I should have run screaming from the room when the subject suddenly came up out of the blue. Alternatively, I could have decked the guy. Neither response strikes me as very civil or very normal.

As I say, it's like a (rather mediocre and overwrought) Hollywood production. Plan Nine from Outer Scratch, perhaps. Only less coherent and more malicious.

LOL!!!!!!!

Of course it does!

No doubt the orderly movement of the planets and the stars, the recurrence of the seasons, the periodic table of the elements, the basic axioms of geometry, and the collected works of William Shakespeare underscore my guilt, too.

Tough luck. Neither your approval nor that of your junior Siamese twin will persuade me to change it. I don't value your opinion that highly.

*Gasp* Not William!?!? Say it ain't so. I could understand if Robert Service underscored your guilt, but William?!?!?!

When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
