I suggested she have him not read the Old Testament because the content would be inappropriate. My comment was deleted.
Deleted. Keep it on topic.

Now really. How much more ON topic could I have been?

The mods over there really do enjoy the bounties of a double standard, don't they?

Maybe it was just one of those PMS days. Your comment was actually cleaver. Keep them coming for my reading pleasure.

For Runtu's thoughts on that Spanish language movie, I agree since I enjoyed it too, but like Morningstar, I would not want my young child to see it.

Maybe the thing is that kids rarely read the Bible, especially the KJV save maybe a few verses. Heck, few adults read the Bible much either except for a few favorite passages like Psalms 23, and the Birth and Crucifixion of Jesus. Maybe throw Sermon on the Mount in for good measure. Not much sex in there.

Posters are allowed to set the direction they want their discussions to go? Is that code for "if people reply to threads started by valued Mormon posters, and the OMP (original Mormon posters) don't like those replies, then they can have little hissy fits and have their threads closed to comments?" What a joke! And I agree, totally absurd of Morningstar to make that request. There are many reasons I made the decision to rarely read and never post on that board. I think it's one of my better decisions.

That's it! You've got it!

Why they don't use that exact wording in their forum rules, I'll never know.

I think today they are really pushing things and some parents would throw their hands up and say why is this on the radio or TV. In Southern Cal there is a fast food commercial on the radio about a lady who is upset because her boyfriend keeps checking his chicken and won't quit checking his chicken and it goes on and on about checking his chicken. Even my friend, who is very liberal, say he was kind of uncomfortable about a viagra commerical where at the end it said if you have an erection that last more than four hours to consult your doctor. He said his teenage daughter was in the room when commercial aired and it kind of made him think about why that is on the TV.

I liked it when Morningstar said: "Grocery stores are for families!"

Isn't that a funny thing to say? I think so, coming from Morningstar, who has a habit of shooting off comments that cannot be taken 100% seriously and probably aren't meant to be.

I suggested she have him not read the Old Testament because the content would be inappropriate. My comment was deleted.

My comment wasn't deleted:

Excellent. That's the perfect response, Dude.

This reminds me that people seem to be more uptight about sex than they are about violence. Death and destruction are OK, but show a naked breast and you've gone too far.

Maybe because it wasn't sex or maybe because you are seen as a "valued poster".

It is kinda strange how people object more to sex in print than they do to violence. I wonder if anyone has done studies on violence / sex in print and how that effects young children of reading age. I know there was that study about violence on TV and especially young children. Sounds like a worthy psychology project, but it also seems like people generally don't care about violence in print.

Maybe. I think it was because I said that on page 1 of the thread, before MS had decided that scriptures (and her double standard) were outside the thread topic.

Now the thread is closed at the originator's request.
