Do you still respect the titles?

For those of you that are no longer Mormon, do you still respect the titles and address those that hold those titles as such?

Do you still see a former Bishop and address him as Bishop Johnson, or is it Mr. Johnson now? Same with Stake Presidents?

I do. It's just habit, I suppose, but why not give respect to someone who is donating time to their religion?

I still use titles when referring to the bishop or stake president. I refer to the prophet as the president and I only refer to the apostles by their names, not titles. I also still refer to other members as brother and sister if that's how I knew them and we weren't on a first name basis.

I felt immense joy watching the man across the bishop's desk shrink in horrifying realization that I no longer respected nor believed in his so called office of bishop as I handed him my two week notice on my frivolous "callings".

I savor that moment when the arrogant twinkle disappeared from his condescending eye.

It was sweet justice for me. I can only hope for such a feeling for all exiting exmos.

Absolutely not. When I talk to the bishop of the Mormon ward I happen to live in, I call him by his first name.

I have absolutely no respect for any leaders in the cult of Mormonism. I give no credence to their self created titles.

Respect of a person is different than respect for the cult. There is no reason to treat neighbors who may be entrenched in Mormonism badly, it isn't their fault they have been carefully lead down the path of the cult with re-written doctrine, hidden history, whitewashed doctrine and a pay, pray, obey mentality. They are still human beings.

I'd turn my back and ignore Gordy, Packer, or any of the other so-called Mormon "elites" - or royalty as I call them.

I work downtown Salt Lake and it drives me nuts when you can't get into a restaurant or some public place because some Mormon royalty is there. He is always surrounded by his men in black who are speaking into their sleeves and touching their ear pieces, looking at you like you are scum. I watch them being driven around in their blackened out cars. Their drivers oftentimes disregarding traffic laws.

You follow them around all the time watching to see if they obey traffic laws? Otherwise, how do you know its oftentimes? Also, do they have police escorts with them when they do this, or is this just some limo driver that does this? What kind of traffic laws are you referring to?

I walk twice a day at work, a little over a mile each time. That route takes me around the Matican (temple square, et al). Traffic laws I refer to are often blowing red lights when they should have stopped, parking wherever they want and sometimes speeding. When you have walked two miles a day in downtown SLC for the last five years, you see a lot.

I am sorry, but I guess where I was raised, you call someone by their title when showing respect to them, whether that is Dr., Mr., Father, or Bishop. Just because I am not Catholic, doesn't mean I refer to Father Byrd of the Blessed Mother Parrish of my hometown of Owensboro as Mr Byrd, or buddy, or dude... Again, I guess this is just a difference of cultures here. In the south, I hear titles passed around much more often than not.

How do you know its them? I assume if its a limo that you are observing, then the window's are tinted. Could it not be some other VIP? Also, are the guests within the Limo at fault for the actions of the driver?

That's a good point, Nephi. I don't know any pastors, but if I did I would probably call them Father.
