Seminary: bleary eyed brainwashing

I had an early morning paper route. I'm not sure which was better: either way I had to get up at 4:30 and get to work.
Skipped it in high school altogether.
My father tried to enforce the "no seminary, no driving privileges" rule which was common among my friends.
Of course, that didn't work. Who was going to do all the driving errands for my mom if I didn't have my license?

I detest my loose style and my libertine sentiments. I thank God, who has removed from my eyes the veil...

Science will tell you that teenagers need their sleep, even into the late morning as they have different sleep patterns and here you need to get up at 5:30. Sleep deprivation is a good way to brainwash. Girls showed up in PJ's and robes with curlers in their hair. One teacher use to buy us glazed donuts. Knowing what I know about myself I must have been zombied about fifteen minutes after I ate one. And no one gets more sanitized church history than seminary students. To me the whole thing is just bizzare. regarding Utah I think they challenged it in court in the 80's. They might have had it in public school or somthing. I can't remember all the details.
Where in Southern California? I went all four years of early-morning seminary. Makes me tired just thinking about it.

People outside of the States usually have it a lot easier. I taught seminary for a while. Once a week was all we could do because the members were so spread out.
I actually enjoyed it and tried to make it interesting. It was a great experience for me. Of course, I try not to think about the fact that I participated in child indoctrination.

That's a question that still rattles me. I found out that in Utah you can still get released time if you're not Mormon; you just have to attend some other religion's afternoon function. If you're an atheist kid, you can't get released time at all.
So it's only halfway equitable. How this state of affairs is legal is beyond me.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Totally the same in Idaho. I had release time for one of my 6 class periods, walked across the street, took out my brain and let them scrub the hell out of it. By my senior year I got sick of the washings and bailed out of it. Bingo my brain started functioning better without the washings.
And to answer Vegas' question:
From my observation the church elects a lot of Mormons to the state legislature and to the local school boards. I think they need a good law suit.

I don't think that seminary is the problem. The problem lies with the load that high school students now have in the school. And in the fact that students have too much on their plate in other areas of their life. Of course, seminary will need to suffer because to learn about god is just not as imortant as 'succeeding' in life. And yet, I cannot but think that our children need seminary and less of the other.
My daughter is in seminary and I had a talk with her about what she is learning. She told me a lot of interesting topics that she learned. She was very up on Joseph Smith and other aspects of church history. The LDS kids need seminary.

They get away with it due to the same phenomenon that allows churches to get away with not paying taxes. But let an atheist complain about any of these things, and they're labeled a radical nut.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

I went to high school in Utah, and I always made sure that Seminary was the 1st class. That meant I got to sleep in every other day. My school was on the block system. 4 classes on your A day and the other 4 on your B day.
I had to skip seminary in my senior year to have enough credits to graduate.
