I think I have heard about this. The Church people form a semi-circle, cross their arms in an X and then turn their backs on the shunned while uttering aloud the words "K'plaugh Apos' Takk". I wondered where that custom originated from.

Now you know the rest of the story....

No, it's you making light of secret police and horrible oppression by comparing a visit from Church leaders to secret police activity. This guy says that we have a persecution complex.

Mormons DO have a persecution complex. How many times have we heard the endless comparison between (warranted) early animosity towards Mormons and the holocaust?

If we do it's because of people like you who insist that the 'Mormon cult' must be destroyed by any means necessary.

Which is a closer comparison?

"Mormons persecuted and killed in Missouri" to Holocaust

OR

"Home Teachers knocking on door" to Holocaust

I agree the LDS comparison is overblown....but yours blows more.

Straw man. When did I compare home teachers to the holocaust?

He could attend public meetings if his conduct is orderly, but would be denied giving any talks, offering prayers, partaking of the sacrament or voting.

Why would he be denied sacrament?

Edit in: sorry, I didn't read the post well. I thought they recently did that but am glad if they stopped it. The real sad thing was that my Dad had left the home and my mom was very depressed. The court was on a tuesday night. I was going to ride my bike to the court but my friend asked me to go home teaching with him first so I did and he dropped me and my bike off at the stake center after. After the excommunication the Stake President didn't want me riding my bike home and pretty much said he was going to take me home. I couldn't tell my mom that night what happened. On Sunday I called the Stake President and asked if he could tell her and he said yes and then my Mom started freaking out about what the Stake President could be wanting to talk to her about and did I do something. When my Mom walked into the building, our nosey-motor-mouth neighbor came up to my mom and said she heard about my excommunication and was sorry to hear it, so that is how my Mom learned. Her husband who was in priesthood meeting must have called her and told her. my Mom basically laid in bed for six months she was so depressed.

So sorry to hear this styleguy. I'm sure that was incredibly painful, even all these years later.

If you want to replace Holocaust with Stazi in both cases that works too.

I'm still upset.

It was eye opening to see the pro/cons following the article. I never figured I would know some of the posters personally. Didn't know some of them were no longer members.

I will never quite understand how anyone who is privy to the true history can draw a conclusion so contrary to fundamental principles of logic (and decency) -

Particularly when they have been brought up in a church that has taught them to discern it.
