Also, I know "Shakespearian English" is difficult at best for most people to read, and there is only a handful of individuals who can read it and see the poetry behind the words, so to say that they do not understand it, and would like a "new english" translation is not unheard of....

Hrm... Maybe that would be a good blog thingie to do; retranslating the Book of Mormon into modern english?

Nephi, Nephi, Nephi ..... it already is in modern english ....... ebonics!

Actually, Shakespearean English is considered modern English. Someone should translate the Book of Mormon to Old or Middle English.

For the return missionaries here - how many people that you baptized read the entire Book of Mormon before 'gaining their testimony' and joining the church?

I don't think any of my converts did.
WK: "Joseph Smith asserted that the Book of Mormon peoples were the original inhabitants of the americas"
Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08
Still waiting for Will to back this up...

I can think of two who did. One had been studying to be a Catholic priest and took everything we said very seriously. The other was a guy with a Mormon girlfriend who read it several times at her urging.
