Monkey

Without thinking it over and justifying it with arguements, very quickly, you tell me.

What does your gut tell you?

My gut tells me that those who quote scripture don't really have anything good to say

Gaz
The same spirit that possesses our body when we go out of this life will rise with us in the resurrection. Will it be a spirit who strove to be Christlike? Or a spirit that is a slave to the temporal carnal desires, being no more godlike than a dog? Will you be a man who is godlike, or an animal, down on all fours and sniffing?

Striving to be Christlike is FAR different than developing the kind of self control it takes to be a god, Gaz. I will never be a man who is godlike, thanks very much.

I think that someone who asks me not to think isn't thinking himself.

What does your gut tell you?

My gut tells me that if humans were able to develop the kind of self control that it takes to be a god, there would have been no need for a Savior.

Gaz,

Now explain to me why you would tell monkeys not to think. I'd like to hear about that.

Okay..... I'm lalalalaing in my head trying not to think (I don't have to try too hard at this endeavor) as I'm reading the scripture. I stumble as I read it because the thous and hasts trip me up.

Reading, reading and then this is something that I tune into "20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eeternal life."

I particularly enjoyed the part I bolded.

So, gut instinct? My gut instinct says that the philosophy (is that correct?!) or religious teachings of Christ is something that is noble, embedded with integrity, love, compassion, justice, and hope.

Or perhaps it's because I've always thought that about Christianity that my 'gut' told me that? No new thought - just perhaps I enjoyed that part of the scripture for it mirrored my own concerns? I'm not certain of that.

I definitely do not want to be a beast or a slobbering mutt. I think the principles Christ taught help people navigate safely through our world while ensuring a caring hand that reaches out to help others that struggle with their own journey. I appreciate that!

That is my 'gut' I suppose? And with little 'thought'

*lalalalaling*

Can I think now? ;)

Gaz

Couch potatoes and serial killers and child molesters are of coarce extreme examples of beign a slave to ones desires. Everytihng has degrees. If we know the things I just listed to be abhorant, then shouldent we strive in the opposite direction for the best withen us?

I can't let this stand without challenge. Your list includes serial killers. Do you think that serial killers are sociopaths? Do you think that folks who suffer from sociopathy are capable of fending off their desires?

My post regarding Monkeys not thinking was in reference to her comments on masturbation.

People can jusify anything. I was simply asking her to go with her gut instinct as opposed to waiting a bit and justifying it in her head.

I was not clear, my bad.
