Two questions that will make social conservatives think....
I just heard these on Bill Maher's most recent episode from blogger Andrew Sullivan (I'm paraphrasing them):
They can be found here starting at 30 seconds or so.
1) Would you abort the fetus of Osama bin Laden?
2) Would you have homosexual sex in order to prevent a terrorist attacks?
They made me think (well the second one did).....how bout you folks?

I would not abort a fetus due to what it may or maynot do in its lifetime (we have no way to predict what one would do), so I agree with liz at that point. However, if I had a perfect knowledge of what a fetus would grow up to do, then the real question becomes is it okay to punish one for acts they WILL do, or (more over) is it okay to protect society by killing someone for acts they will do. This is all very hypothetical, but since I believe that captial punishment is okay, and I am pro choice, sure, abort that fetus. Unfortunately, this is very hypothetical, and not much can be weighed out by one's answer to such a question.
As for the second question, would I personally have homosexual sex to prevent a terrorist attack, of course, and no real man would say no to this situation. I think that any real man would say yes to just about any type hypothesis barring that they didn't have to kill innocent people to prevent it (and some would do that as well).
by the way, I am no where near a social conservative. I swing more towards the left than the right.

Not any more than I'd become a Muslim to prevent terrorist attacks. The terrorists would be at fault, not me. I don't think I'd even support the Patriot Act to prevent terrorist attacks. Everything has its price. I'd be glad to die to prevent terrorist attacks (if it's quick and painless). I might even consider going into dangerous situations--ones where I'd be likely to be brutally tortured or even raped by men. But I see a distinction between situations of danger where harm is likely and situations where I wilfully participate in something repugnant. I would NOT want a Muslim or Jew, or vegan to eat pork to save my life either.

I'm assuming you meant to type "would not"?

Here's a question for LDS:
1) Would you allow the abortion of a fetus if you knew that by aborting it, he/she was granted automatic entry to the Celestial Kingdom, and thus furthered the work and glory of Father? (As a condition, all abortions would be performed by a staunchly atheist, anti-Mormon doctor who is stubbornly committed to a Telestial inheritance anyway, even if he doesn't perform abortions)

No. I wouldn't allow a fetus to be genetically altered to have Down's Syndrome to insure unaccountability and thus a seat in the CK either. Neither would I allow a fetus to be genetically altered to have some sort of mental retardation in order to ensure that the fetus would be happy in life. Also, I would not allow a fetus to be genetically altered to ensure that the fetus would not be a homosexual. I just don't think that kind of meddling with lives and destinies is justifiable--at least in those cases.
I guess it's tricky too. I might allow a fetus to be genetically altered so that it doesn't have Down's Syndrome. I'd certainly be willing to let a competent adult choose to alter his sexual orientation with science, but altering it for a fetus just strikes me as wrong.

1. No. I would allow him to be born in Colorado City. That way he can still live a muslim type lifestyle, but remain relatively harmless to the rest of us.
2. Only if it was with Bond. He is so sexy.
