Here Charity: you can learn a lot about geneology from this video: It takes about fifty minutes to watch but would likely save you writing time in the long run. It gives a very simple lesson on tracing your lineage.

Then we could get into looking at synonyms for principal:
arch, capital, cardinal, champion, chief, controlling, crowning, dominant, essential, first, foremost, greatest, head, highest, incomparable, key, leading, main, mainline, major, matchless, maximum, outstanding, paramount, peerless, pre-eminent, predominant, premier, prevailing, primary, prime, prominent, sovereign, star, stellar, strongest, supereminent, superior, supreme, transcendent, unapproachable, unequaled, unparalleled, unrivaled
Then, we could also look at definitions of some of those words like 'primary' or 'main'. And guess what, the word 'principal' is included as a definition.
Anyhow, all of this is besides the point, and skipping the main issue - CONTEXT.

Still waiting for Will to back this up...

2. You don't have DNA from each and every person who is on your pedigree chart. You have millions of people there. It would be absurd to think that each and every person back 20-30 generations or more is represented in your DNA.
Charity: did you really think first before you wrote that or did you just shoot from the hip.
Good grief! This is Biology 101. At every union of a sperm and egg, half of each parent's DNA is not passed on. How long does it take before hundreds and even thousands of your progenitors don't have one smidgen of DNA in your cells. Except for mtDNA, which will represent only your mother. And males who get their Y from their father's line.
Do you even think before you try to refute by insult?

Sorry. I got my education on genealogy from college level courses, not from guys in their garages with a video camera.

And yet it seems that your college professors failed to teach you that "among" doesn't mean, and is not a synonym of, "principal."

Oh please don't try to teach the class when you cannot even earn a passing grade on this basic principle. You seem to think DNA gets diluted over time, but ask yourself what it gets diluted with...? Can't answer that? Because it doesn't get diluted, it just gets scrambled by recombination events. So you still have countless DNA smidgens of all your ancestors. ALL OF THEM.
The only DNA that doesn't get scrambled is the mtDNA and the Y DNA, and so it faithfully represents one maternal and one paternal ancestor. Completely the opposite of what you seem to think.

If you are going to particpate in the discussion, Merc, at least have the requistie knowledge. I don't have time to go thorugh Genetics 101 for you.
Merc looks into the camera and smiles: "She don't know me very well, do she?"

I think you just hit the nail on the head. The Three Nephites and visions and speaking in tongues are embarrassing. To modern sensibilities, they are the marks of an uneducated and superstitious people. And no Latter-day Saint wants to be associated with that.
And this statement represents both the grossest ignorance of what the vast majority of both the educated and uneducated faithful members of the Church believe as well as the most obnoxious modernist conceits regarding our supposed "enlightened" status as over against the sorry primitives who pray over their meals and anoint others heads with oil in expectation of healing and comfort.
My stomach is beginning to knot...

Sounds like you need remedial Biology...wait, skip that. You need remedial approaches to the scientific method. No sense in teaching you biology if you don't know how apply what you learn.
Seriously, you need help if you believe that your skewed view of genetics results in disproving the scientific consensus regarding the Amerindian genetic lineage. You know its bad when the Raelians show the Mormons up in Genetics.

Um, sorry to burst your bubble but Devry is not really a university.
