Yes, I am, and I'll tell you why. First of all it was a private email, never intended for public release. It was a very stupid thing to do, and I regret it. The people it was aimed at - never released this. An anti-Mormon did. I have no problem with that in the sense it's give and take on the Net, and both sides will try to win points. I do have to say, though, I don't think much of a person who gets that desperate. It has always been my policy never to release private information, no matter how much I want to win points. What happens in emails, stays in emails, or eventually no one will ever trust you. As much as I criticise angry exmos, I would not release personal information about them, even if they had privately made a threat against Mormons. What's on the board is fair game.

There are times when the rights to privacy are outweighed by other concerns. The fact that you have been engaging in your own form of a crusade in which you accuse exmormons of inciting violence against Mormons merits the revelation of this very pertinent information.

Scratch does not only NOT regret his constant character assassination - he continues full on, unabated, and he has and is hurting the people he attacks, he is doing far worse, and creating real pain and disgust because of his innuendo and character assassination. What do you think DCP would care about? What I wrote five years ago? Or the lies, innuendo, and character assassination that Scratch constantly directs at him?

I am not rationalising what I did. It was totally wrong.

What scratch does is no different than what MADdites, including DCP, do regularly on FAIR/MAD. The only difference is that scratch's information is easier to access being in a permanent blog form.

When I first arrived on FAIR, Juliann repeatedly called me a liar and a plagiarist without the slightest justification. DCP regularly insults Harmony when their paths cross. We are far from the only people who have been their targets. If I were to gather all the various insults and analyses just these two have engaged in over the years and put them together in a blog, scratch's would look mild in comparison.

Beastie, what if your latter interpretation is wrong? What if God did actually give you that revelation?

Then I trust I will discover that one day. I don't worry about it, because there are only a few possibilities. One is that God is a God of love and justice, as human beings like to portray. In this scenario, I have no concerns or qualms about my possibly incorrect belief, because that God would know that I've been sincere in my attempts to understand him and the world throughout my life, and if I came to an erroneous conclusion, it is not due to malicious intent. A loving God would not hold that against me.

Another possibility is that God does condemn people to some sort of punishment due to the simple fact that they believed the "wrong" thing in this life. In that case, perhaps God will punish me somehow, likely by forcibly divorcing me from my family and banning me from his presence. That would be a tragedy, but I cannot alter this scenario since, even if I knew this sort of God existed, I would refuse to respect, love, or worship him.

Another possibility is that God really does not care one whit what sort of dogma human beings believe in, as long as they seek him. In that scenario, I again have no qualms because this god would understand that I have sincerely sought him throughout my life, and when I lost belief in him, it was also sincere.

When I was still a theist, I did believe that God told me the Book of Mormon was "the word of God" because it was a very vague statement (saying nothing specific about how it came about, or whether it was historically accurate, it could be the word of God simply because it teaches people to believe in Jesus), and for some reason, God wanted my journey to include Mormonism. But because God also intended me to leave Mormonism one day, God would not, or could not, (because it was less vague) affirm the truth of Joseph Smith' role as prophet or the truth of the restored church. I don't regret having been a Mormon. It has given me a perspective on life I may not have had, otherwise, if only to appreciate how tricky religious belief is. I can see how it could have been part of God's purpose that I be a Mormon for part of my life.

What will be, will be. At this point in my life, I have no belief in any godbeing whatsoever, but anything can change. It's hard for me to imagine believing in god again someday, but when I was a believer, I couldn't imagine being an atheist, either.

I did not incite violence against anyone, publicly. It was a heated moment of frustration, privately expressed. I have never incited violence against Mormons on any board. In fact, I have never encouraged violence against angry ex-Mormons. But I agree, I'm now fair game. I deserve to be clobbered for being so foolish five years ago. I could have denied it all, but I prefer to be upfront. Before this extended discussion came up, I changed my blog name, and style, and as I said on PostMo, I don't intend to continue pursuing angry exmos. PostMo in fact helped me to see this. I will comment from time to time, but it's over. They don't deserve the attention I've given them anyway.

DCP has never used the language and innuendo that Scratch does. He has defended himself. It's not Scratch's blog I'm talking about - but his numerous posts and threads, which contain lies and innuendo, and his REFUSAL to accept explanations from the very people he attacks. No matter what DCP says - he's guilty! This is just pathetic.

Juliann said many things to me too, on Z. Even when I was first on FAIR we clashed. Harmony has constantly, unrelentingly, run DCP down LONG after their initial clashes. He answered her when he posted here, for years of her criticisms against him. You've lost your perspective here.

(drumroll...) This, ladies and gentlemen, is what is known as pride. It is also immersed deeply in the aromatic waters of hubris.

"Up yours God, I'm not going to worship anyone who is actually going to hold me accountable for the choices I made while on earth."

I couldn't have done this better myself.

Now Beastie, are you ready to discuss this at a deeper and more intellectually honest level?

Mister Scratch wrote:If this were genuinely true, then you would have a big problem with DCP's "leaking" of private information pertaining to Mike Quinn. You would staunchly oppose the Good Professor's endless gossipmongering and trash-talking.

Here we go again. This is your imagination, in spite of numerous clarifications from DCP himself.

Mister Scratch wrote:What "real pain," Ray? Who is genuinely in pain? CFR!

Don't "CFR" me, Scratch. You have to be kidding! When someone CFR's you, you TTR them (twist the references), to what you want to believe!! Not what the truth is.

Mister Scratch wrote:Well, despite your dishonest warping of events in your above posting, it is easy enough to imagine DCP being very perturbed by the sort of statement you made. Quite sick, Ray.

It's no where near as sick as your character assassination.

Mister Scratch wrote:I have not lied in any of my postings on DCP. In fact, I have followed your above rule quite well: I have stuck only to things which The Good Professor has posted online.

For now, I'll choose to believe that you are not deliberately distorting my words.

I was not talking about being held accountable for my choices. I was talking about being held accountable for sincerely believing the wrong thing.

Do you worship a god who punishes people who have sincerely believed the wrong thing?

Ray,

I truly believe DCP loves the attention he gets from the exmormon community. He refers to it himself quite frequently. And you are incorrect about Harmony chasing him down, I've seen him lash out at her quite unprovoked.

This is quite incorrect. Mainly because I can't chase him anywhere. I'm banned from his favorite haunt, and I don't post anywhere but here. Daniel still smarts from his encounter with Wazing. It's danged tough when some upstart shows you exactly how well you live your religion.
