I hear Bob could use help with both subjects. Too bad you teach at a place he wouldn't deign to spit on.

I hire and direct PhDs and a few masters degree holders who are economists, archaeologists, biologists, hyrdologists, historians (recent economic history), civil engineers, archivists (government files), and others in highly specialized areas, such as nuclear power plant risks and sport stadiums. I have also directed studies in the statistical method and have published under my own name on the basis of research directed. So, I read in lots of different areas.
Who knew that Reno's waste disposal was so complicated?

Yes, I am laughing and puzzled at the same time. What is the referent of "it?"
But its sadly this much true: I do not teach Pilates, nor have I ever been hired professionally as a caterer. And my only connection to Brazil is a former student who now works in the Brazilian diplomatic corp in Rome. When he was last in NYC he confided that he only went to diplomat school because all the hottest guys were there...

Of course you do. Blixa is only a mere female professor, after all.
;)
I'm glad to know she's a "female". That explains it all. [Really, now, why do you have to identify her as a "female"?]
Seriously, I doubt that there is much to debate of any consequence and skill amongst English professors. Maybe whether split infinitives are appropriate to resort to.
As a personal favor to me, will you please stop using red text and signing it with "-MODS?"
I don't want anyone to get confused and think a real moderator actually wrote that stuff. It has caused confusion before; I'd like to avoid it in the future.
Thanks!

I know this is all in "good" "fun" Bob, but its always so odd to see this idea that "English professors" spend their time thinking about spelling and sentence structure. The discipline has changed a lot in the last hundred years or so.... ; )

'Course, my only interaction with English degree holders is in publishing and writing, so I admit my exposure to critical theory is limited. One of my kids has a degree in English.

So, I'm pushing the limits? Didn't think there were any here.
